Do you remember how broken you left me
Like a doll you no longer had use for?
My pretty little Raven
Your touch used to cause a fire in my body,
I died under those flames.
My pretty little Raven
I hope you choke on my ashes
While you watch your world burn.
It had been three days since Jax brought Raven home from the hospital. It had been three days of bliss filled with euphoria. They had shut out the world; Raven couldn’t access Lush just yet, so there was nowhere for her to be, and Jax was content to keep her occupied enough that the worry of Lush and whoever killed that poor man was far from her mind.
They spent those three days wrapped around each other—Jax always inside Raven unless they had to eat or use the restroom. They had quickly adopted a routine that made Jax realize how essential they were to each other’s lives.
He pulled Raven closer to his naked body and buried his nose in her neck. He placed a kiss against her skin, tempted to sink his teeth into her flesh and wake her up with his cock inside of her, but this had been the most sleep he’d seen her get since he walked back into her life. The last thing he wanted to do was overexert her and land her back in the hospital.
Jax shifted on the bed, laying on his back. He pulled Raven into him as he took in her bedroom. The sun had long since come up. Its rays peeking in through her big bay window, casting enough light to brighten the room but not enough to wake Raven from her slumber.
Raven kept her bedroom the same in all the years they had dated. She was simple in her needs with a king sized bed sitting in the center of the bedroom the color of mahogany wood that had a matching dresser and nightstand set up. She had a massive closet, and just like in her living room, there were a few art pieces on her walls up here.
Two had been of Raven, both drawn with her mouth slightly parted, her eyes at half-mast and one hand in between her legs, the other cupping her breast. One of those paintings had belonged to Jax, given to him on his birthday, and in one of his idiotic fits, he’d thrown it back in her face accusing her of fucking the artist.
“I really was a dick,” Jax whispered to himself as he took in the third painting. It had been the most intimate out of all the paintings Raven had, and it made his heart hurt when he looked at it, knowing the person in that painting could have easily replaced Jax’s place in Raven’s life.
Lea Matthews.
She had been everything Jax couldn’t be. Where he pushed, Lea had surrendered. Where he’d been unforgiven and ignorant, she had been warm and welcoming. Everything about her had fit Raven in a way Jax used to believe he never could. He’d seen them around town a few times, and even in the looks they shared, there was an intimacy that Jax could never accomplish with Raven, and it hurt him more than he had been willing to admit to himself. Their love had been strong enough to rival his and Raven’s, and he knew that had she not passed away, it would be Lea in his place now.
Jax closed his eyes, silently cursing himself for feeling glad that Lea was no longer in the picture. He would never wish death upon anyone, and he felt bad for the family she left behind, for the hole it left in Raven, but he was still glad that he had been granted another chance in her absence. Lea had been the initial catalyst that had gotten Jax’s head out of his own ass to truly see that Raven was the one he wanted and who he needed to be to make it work—the person Raven saw underneath the mask he’d always worn.
He felt Raven stir next to him, and when he opened his eyes, her gaze was on his as bright as the morning sun. He felt the hunger she always enticed stir low in his belly, making his balls heavy and his cock ache. Her taste was still on his tongue and when she smiled up at him, it felt like he’d stuck his wet fingers in a socket, getting zapped—his heart stopping a moment before picking up speed again.
“My beautiful angel,” Jax whispered, tracing her lush lips.
A beautiful angel built for sin, Jax thought to himself when he felt her nipples graze his side and her clever hands rested just above his dick. The damn thing was so excited by her proximity it twitched under the blanket, desperate for her attention.
“Good morning, Mr. Pierce,” she murmured, stretching slightly until she wrapped her leg around his waist. “A girl could get used to waking up next to you again.”
There was a softness to her tone—almost as if she was hesitant to admit out loud that she wanted this, and all Jax wanted to do was put her at ease. “I could get used to this too.” He shifted, turning them so she was on her back and he was settled in between her legs. He cradled her face, memorizing every shade of amber and gold that glistened in her eyes. “I’m not going anywhere, Rave. I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but it’s true.”
She closed her eyes at his words and he kissed her eyelids, her nose, and then her jaw. He knew she was wary of him, of what they shared because as hot and heavy as they always started out, they crashed and burned just as fast, but Jax knew what to do this time—how to be different.
He took a breath, steadying his heartbeat as a bout of nerves settled in his stomach. “Is Lush the only place for us to be able to play with couples?” He was surprised at how level his tone was. This was the first and only time he asked or initiated the desire to have sex with more than just Raven. He didn’t count what happened at Lush since he was following her lead there.
Raven’s eyes widened, causing Jax to chuckle, not surprised by her reaction. “I’m sorry, I think you fucked my hearing away. What did you just ask me?”
“I want a repeat of what happened at Lush. Is that the only place we can make it happen?” He had no idea if the places he’d looked up online before settling on Lush were legit and legal. He knew the hoops Raven had to go through to make sure Lush was as safe as it was without it being classified as customers paying for sex since she did employ people for training sessions. The last thing Jax wanted to happen was visiting one of the places he looked up online and it got busted by his cop friends.
Raven gently pushed him off her, and they readjusted their positions so they were sitting up in her large bed. She reached for his shirt that had been thrown toward the bottom of the bed and threw it on before her gaze found his. “Are you sure that’s what you want?” she questioned.
Jax nodded. “Did I not just ask for it?” He reached for her hands, the need to feel her skin against his was almost as potent as tasting her again. “I enjoyed myself in Lush, and I know it’s currently out of commission, so are there other places like Lush? I looked at a few online, but I’m not sure what’s legit and what’s not.”
Raven’s smile was wide as she crawled into his lap. “There are a few people and places I know of, but they aren’t like Lush. It’s more of an ‘in someone’s house, private party, and very intimate’ type of thing. Would you be okay with something like that?”
