“Be careful what you wish for, Pierce. You might just get it.” The need to push him, test his limits, had her praying the doctors would discharge her soon so she could see if he was all talk or not.

Jax’s lips pulled back into a carnal smile, sending a shiver of anticipation through her. “That sounds like a challenge, Ms. Wright,” he nipped at her bottom lip before continuing, “once you get the all clear, name the time and place, and maybe you’ll get to watch me fuck someone else while you ride my face.”

Raven chuckled, not even denying his cockiness was turning her on. Her body warmed at the idea of him sinking into someone while his tongue coaxed his favorite sounds out of her. She squirmed on the hospital bed—or tried to. Jax’s hand on her thigh shot to her hip, pinning her in place.

Hetskedunder his breath. “I don’t remember saying you could move, Ms. Wright.” Jax damn near purred, and Raven sucked in a sharp breath, feeling herself grow wetter.

Jax’s dominance had always left her body strung tight like a bow—always made her body respond on a dime but so did his submission.

Raven’s hand slipped out of his hold, and she wrapped her hand around his throat as she gently tugged him closer to her. “I don’t remember asking for permission either, Pierce. You plan on doing something about that?” Their gazes locked, fire burning in each of their eyes, deadly enough to burn their surroundings to ash, leaving just them in the embers of what their desire for each other caused.

She could feel Jax’s heartbeat echo through her body—her heart beat in tune with his. Only his hand was touching her, but that didn’t stop her from feeling every inch of him around her and inside of her. Her body physically ached from Jax’s proximity and not being able to get him inside of her.

Definitely an addiction.

Jax’s deep chuckle filled the room, and Raven found herself leaning into him. His other hand went to her wrist, pulling her off of his neck. He brought her palm to his lips, nipping at the center before she felt the press of his lips against her skin. “Once you’re clear and out of here, I just might have to.”

Jax dropped her hand, and just as he was getting ready to pull away Raven reached for his shirt, pulling him back toward her. A desperate need clawed at her skin. She wanted him, and while this wasn’t the ideal place to fuck, they had done it in more public spaces in the past.

She groaned his name, and his answering laugh as he disengaged himself from her hold left her frustrated. “Ah, ah, ah. I don’t think they’re going to enjoy watching me bury my cock inside of you if the doctor or nurse walks back in here.” He placed a kiss on her forehead before completely stepping away from her. “Besides, we need to make sure you’re fully hydrated for what I have planned for you.”

There was a knock on the door, saving Jax from Raven’s rebuttal. She turned to see Danielle standing in the open doorway, and it gave Raven pause, remembering that the nurse that had come in had closed it behind her when she left.

“Didn’t mean to interrupt,” Danielle smiled weakly as her gaze danced between Jax and Raven.

“It’s fine,” Raven murmured, her eyes squinting as she took Danielle in. There was something about her that seemed out of place and familiar at the same time, and Raven couldn’t put her finger on it. “Come in,” Raven waved Danielle over, and once the woman was close enough, Raven was hit with the smell of jasmine and lilac.

“How are you feeling? Jax said you were fine but didn’t tell me what happened. I also brought your insurance card.” Danielle rambled on while Raven tried to pinpoint where she knew that fragrance from.

“I’m okay,” Raven started, feeling out of sorts. “Just dehydrated. I feel like an ass. I’m in here because I forgot to drink some water.”

Danielle laughed. “I guess I have to pen that in too. What happened? You’re usually pretty good with your…oh.” Danielle cut herself off, probably coming to the same conclusion Raven had about why she was so forgetful in taking care of herself.

“What are you wearing?” Raven blurted out. Something in the way Danielle stood by her bed and that damn scent of jasmine and lilac was teasing at a memory that Raven was having a hard time accessing. “The perfume, or whatever it is. Is that new?”

Danielle shook her head. “I haven’t put anything on. I rushed here from reading the files Diane sent over. I would have brought them with me, but wasn’t sure what state you’d be in.”

Raven pursed her lips together, desperately trying to push that memory that teased her conscious through. It was right there. She could almost hear the sounds and feel the emotions that lingered with the memory, but she couldn’t physically see it or place it.

There was another knock on the door. This time it was the doctor who had attended to her when she first arrived at Hillcrest. “Looks like you have some visitors.” The older man’s smile was gentle as he took in Danielle. He waved an iPad in his hand. “I have the results.” He spoke, giving a pointed look at Jax and Danielle who got the hint that they were supposed to leave. Jax winked at her before heading toward the door while Danielle patted her wrist before giving it a tight squeeze.

Raven watched Danielle leave, and that’s when the memory hit her out of nowhere. The jasmine and lilac scent and the way Danielle had patted her wrist before gripping it all belonged to one person.

Lea.

My pretty little Raven

Can you feel me?

Do you remember my touch upon your skin?

The way I brought you pleasure after your pain?

My pretty little Raven

Do you remember the taste of my tears

When my name was no longer your source of solace?
