There were a few bikers at the blackjack table smoking and drinking. Sofia read the emblem on the back of their cuts. There was a skeleton with red eyes wrapped in a straitjacket. There were little specks of red on the front of the jacket, and Sofia assumed it was supposed to be blood with the words Unhinged Brothers underneath it.
The door shut behind them with a click that was loud enough to have the four bodies sitting at the blackjack table take notice and turn around.
Sofia did a quick scan noting the patches she read on their cuts. She had zero knowledge of motorcycle gangs in the States. The ones in New York stayed far away from her father and his organization and the ones in Colombia were kids trying to make a name for themselves, and she had taken them under her wing. They left the bikes at home and got into dirtier business under her name.
“Look, boys. Wolf brought us entertainment while we wait.” The VP—going by the name on his patch, licked his lips while he sized Sofia up. There was a predator look in his gaze that made her want to scratch his eyes out with an ice pick.
“We got it from here, buster.” The VP’s gaze shifted to Dom.
Sofia could feel Dom tense behind her and quickly put her hand up to keep him from reacting. It was bad enough Otto had called them out; she didn’t want these assholes to pick up on it as well.
“He stays.” Sofia’s voice was cold as she approached the VP.
She didn’t have her gun on her, but she still had her knife. The bodyguard only asked for guns and Dom gave up his. She hoped that meant the guys didn’t have their weapons on them either.
They were outnumbered, but she didn’t think these guys would start something in the place they conducted their business. While their name was probably meant to insight fear, it didn’t mean they were that stupid. From what Dom had told her, Wolf was a no-nonsense kind of man who wanted his business transactions to go seamlessly.
Sofia approached the VP. The guy was huge—easily over six feet tall—and he looked like he outweighed her by a hundred pounds. There was something unnerving about him. She sensed it as soon as his eyes were on hers, and now that she was up close, she could tell this fuck was crazy.
If she were normal, she’d tuck tail and go stand back by Dom, but she wasn’t normal and she wanted to play, to see how crazy he was.
Sofia traced her hand down his chest, making sure not to touch his cut. He quickly grabbed her wrist and applied pressure. She didn’t wince, even though she knew it wouldn’t take much for him to snap her wrist.
“He can stay. But my boys aren’t into sharing with outsiders.” He purred as he leaned down to get closer to her, locking his eyes with hers.
Sucker. You won’t be able to see me reach for my toy.
“That’s fine. He likes to watch.” Sofia glanced back at Dom. His arms were crossed over his chest. His eyes turned into tiny slits, and she could see the muscles tick in his jaw. He looked every bit the killer, and he was blocking their only exit out of this room.
Sofia winked at him and licked her lips. She could tell he wasn’t happy about what she was about to do, but he leaned back up against the door and nodded his head in a way that confirmed what she told the VP.
The VP chuckled. “Do you like to be watched, doll?” He placed his other hand on her hip, bringing her closer, and she had to fight the urge to stab him in his chest.
She didn’t like being touched. She knew it was from the time she spent being broken into her grandfather’s organization, but it made her skin crawl when men thought they could touch and take without asking.
Sofia thought back to this morning with Dom—his touch scorched her. It gave her pause when she thought about how welcoming his fingers felt against her body—how she craved it.
She’d have to unpack that later. Right now she had to bring the VP of the Unhinged Brothers down to his knees.
Sofia licked her lips. “What’s your name, big boy?”
“Smoke,” the VP answered with his chest puffed out.
“Tell me, Smoke,” Sofia started, “do they call you that because of all the smoke your boys blow up your ass about you being the man?”
She saw his eyes narrow. She had already pulled her knife out undetected, and quickly brought the blade up under his chin. It was the same move she pulled on Dom that morning, and it made her laugh. Did these men think because she was a woman that she wasn’t a real threat?
It was a shame they thought like that. It told Sofia that these men would be too easy to disarm and dismantle when a pair of doe eyes and tits crossed their path.
Sofia felt the rest of the Unhinged Brothers get closer to their VP as they began shouting. She knew Dom was at her back and could hear his low growl vibrating in the room.
Smoke’s laughter quieted them, and he looked at Sofia in challenge. “Relax, boys. She don’t have the balls.” He pressed his chin further into her knife, daring her to do it.
Sofia smiled up at him, not one to deny a dare and slowly started to drag the tip of the knife underneath his chin.
“What the fuck is going on here?”
Sofia turned to see the newcomers. One wore the same cut as Smoke with the word Pres written on it. Next to him stood who she assumed was Wolf. The man had grey hair that matched his salt-and-pepper beard.
