“Yes,” I rasp, dragging my gaze away from Finn to turn to Archer. He is still leaning against the door as if he is trying to block me in.

“Do you know how to take minutes to a meeting?” He pushes off from the door and stalks forward sexily, like a panther on the prowl.

“Yes.” I mean, I’ve never done it before, but how hard can it be? Take notes of the main points. Done.

“I need to make a phone call to the senior partner. Will you stay and take minutes?”

I hear Owen catch his breath, but I nod and stand up. “Of course.” I wonder if he means his father, but I can’t ask that. They obviously keep a professional relationship when in the office. As long as I don’t have to say anything, then I’ll keep my head down, my mouth shut, and write down every single thing that I hear. I have my own shorthand from taking handwritten notes during lectures. I’ve got this.

Archer moves to stand in front of me, his gaze raking over my body, assessing it before he sits in the chair next to mine.

“I’ll just get a notepad and pen,” I murmur, grateful when he indicates the exact items on his desk. Walking over nervously, my palms sweating, I pick up the yellow legal pad and pen, scrawling a bit on the top of the page to make sure it works.

When I move back to the conference table, Archer leans over to the phone in the middle and dials, the sounds coming through the speaker to cut the silence that I feel has gone a bit darker somehow. I realize this is a test to see if I’m up to the job right off the bat, and with it being one of the senior partners, I feel like they’ve dumped me in the pool at the deep end, and I’ve forgotten how to swim.

Still, it’s just notes.

I pull my chair up to sit near Archer, making sure I’ve got a clear audio signal, but he grabs my hand and pulls me towards him. I stumble to my feet and stand awkwardly next to him when he lets me go.

He wants me to stand next to him, making notes. Okay. I can do this. I bend over and immediately realize my mistake.

I freeze when he brings his hand up to my waist, slowly running it down my side, sending a wave of heat throughout my body with every movement. His fingers trace along the curves of my ass as whoever is on the other side of the line answers abruptly.

“Archer.”

“Yes, Dad.”

“Is everything in order?”

With a trembling hand, I start writing, wondering if I should stop this by moving away or say something. But with Archer’s dad on the phone, I can’t really say anything without me sounding like a crazy person. What am I going to blurt out?

Hey, old man Jackson! Your son is feeling me up in the middle of his office while he talks to you.

Yeah. Something tells me that’s not going to work.

“Yes.” Archer’s tugs on my skirt, forcing my gaze to meet his. “We are in the testing stage as we speak.”

My breath hitches in my throat.

Testing stage. He is testing me.

Trish said about the initiation. This must be it. He is testing me to see if I’ll tell anyone what he’s doing to me.

I swallow and glare into his amused blue eyes, letting him know he won’t break me. He wants me to be loyal to him and to keep my mouth shut, then fine. It’s not like it’s a hardship after all. I dreamed of his hands all over my body last night. Now that it’s happening, I only feel excited by the prospect.

I know that makes me bad, but it is what it is.

However, I gasp when he slides his hand under my skirt and up my inner thigh, his fingers inching closer and closer to my center. I lock gazes with him and start writing down everything I can hear being said. It’s garbled and makes no sense.

I’m trembling, my body on edge as his fingers finally brush against my panties.

“Bailey, say hello to my father,” he says, his tone husky and deep.

I blink, not knowing what is expected of me. Does he really expect me to acknowledge myself?

He moves my panties aside, sliding his fingers inside me, as I gasp, “Good Morning Mr. Jackson.”

I close my eyes, hoping that I didn’t sound like I was being finger-fucked by his son.
