“She doesn’t. Well, she does, but I’m sure you’ll win her over.” I grin at him, and he laughs.

“I’m more scared of her than your dad.”

“Yeah, I’m starting to get that. She’s one fierce omega.”

“Doing what omegas do best, protecting those that they love.”

I nod, and hand-in-hand, we walk towards the compound. Spotting the triplets by the wooden picnic bench, we pause.

“It doesn’t look like they’re done yet.”

I shake my head. “No, we’ll leave them a bit longer. Let’s find Nico first.”

We head inside to find Nico waiting for us in the kitchen.

“Can we talk?” he asks immediately.

I nod. “Yes, there are some things to say.”

“Alone?”

I let go of Carter, and with a quick smile, I lead Nico into my bedroom.

“I’m sorry,” he says before I’ve even shut the door.

“What for?” I ask carefully.

“I know you feel like I’ve been this controlling figure in your life, but everything I’ve done was to protect you.”

“I get that. You know my mum and Enzo from before, don’t you?”

“Yes, I am their step-uncle.”

I frown as that piece of news hangs there. “What?” I ask with a laugh. “How the fuck does that work?”

“My mother married Gino.”

“Oh my God,” I snicker, slapping my hand over my mouth. “Sorry, it’s just…that is so weird. You’re like my step great uncle, or great step uncle, or whatever.”

“I know,” he grits out. “That doesn’t change anything, does it?” The concern on his face really hits me in the heart.

“No,” I say, shaking my head. “Not at all.”

He smiles with relief. “I have loved you for a very long time, Sophia. If you aren’t one hundred percent sure about this, I need you to tell me before we go any further.”

“I’m sure. I feel it here.” I pat my chest.

“So do I,” he murmurs.

“Are you okay with the baby?” I blurt out.

His expression softens. “Of course, Sophia. I have never thought about having children, but this is a precious gift, and I’m happy that you have been given this with someone you care about.”

“Don't tell my parents just yet,” I mutter. “I’ll tell them after I’m mated.”

He chuckles softly. “Probably a good idea. Cesca is on the verge of killing someone already. If she finds out Trent is going to father her grandbabiestoday,I fear for his life.”

“I know, right.”
