“Yeah, I take it you don’t know yet.”

My head snaps to the side, searching her eyes. “What is this?”

“Your brothers,” she says with a soft smile. “Triplets.”

I look back over at the two men, who must’ve felt me glaring at them because they have stopped fighting and are staring back at me withmyface.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me,” I growl, my heart leaping into my throat. Turning to Sugar, I ask, “And you knew about this?”

She nods slowly. “I didn’t think it was my place to say. At least not then. I’m glad you’re back. I missed you.” She reaches for my hand, but I pull it away.

“Did you?” It seems like a lie.

“Of course. You know how I feel about you.”

“And them?”

“They’ve got nothing to do with you and me. A lot has happened in the last few days. We need to talk. Go through it all.”

“If you’re ending it, just say,” I spit out, my hurt flooding me as I fight back the tears that are threatening to pool in my eyes. I didn’t think losing her would hurtthismuch.

“I’m not ending it. I want to be with you. We can be together if you accept what I’m offering. Come, we need to talk it out.” She takes my hand, and this time I don’t resist. I let her pull me along, glaring at mybrothersas we pass by them and round the building to head for a woodsy area with a big wooden picnic bench.

When we sit down, she lays it all out for me, leaving no stone unturned, shocking me, hurting me but weirdly, not dumping me.

“You want us all to be together? Six of us?”

“That’s the plan.”

“Hmm.”

Her eyes meet mine, and we just stare at each other for the longest time, before I let out a breath when my phone interrupts the moment.

Needing a minute to think, I pull it out and glance at the screen.

Standing up immediately, I say, “I have to go, Sugar. I’m sorry. It’s work. I’ll be back soon.”

I hurry back to my car, ignoring her when she calls after me, but this is important and I have no idea what to even say to her. I drive off, hoping I’ll be back, but I can’t even say that for sure.

Not yet.

ChapterThirty-Nine

Sugar

Running.

Panting.

Sweating.

My short summer dress is stuck to my thighs as I run through the woods, my long, dark hair flying behind me.

I hear a crack and turn to look over my shoulder, my hair going in my eyes as I keep moving.

“Got you.”

“Ahhh!” I scream as he grabs my upper arms, snapping my head to the front again as I crash into the alpha who’s got me in their clutches. “You dick! I thought you were behind me!”
