My heart weeps for him. I can picture him, a little Xander, waiting for his dad to come home but he never does.

“How awful.”

“Definitely not normal,” Sebastian spits out.

I flinch from his tone. I’m not sure if he is having a go at me and my concerns.

“We would never do that to you,” Ben states. “So please don’t think that.”

“I don’t,” I croak out, but they all know it’s a lie.

At least the lie-detector isn’t in the car to reprimand me about my stinky lies. That reminds me. I need to ask him what my lies smell like? I’m madly curious, and will probably be a bit grossed out when he informs me they smell like dog crap or whatever.

I jump when my phone rings.

It is stuffed into the back pocket of my old jeans. I really need to get Derek to bring me my stuff. It’s not a ton of clothes, but it’s more than one pair of jeans and a pair of joggers. I whip it out and see an unrecognised number.

“Hello?” I answer hesitantly.

“Faith.” Xander’s voice comes down the line, soft and warm.

“Xander! Where are you? We are out looking for you.”

Ben swerves and pulls over onto the side of the road. The three alphas turn to look at me, Sebastian making a ‘gimme’ gesture to the phone.

I shake my head.

He rangme.

If he wanted to speak to Sebastian, he’d have rung him.

“Give me that phone,” Sebastian grits out, holding his hand out.

“No,” I mouth and slap his hand away. “Where are you?” I say into the phone.

“Are you silently fighting with Seb?” he asks instead.

“How did you know?” I give Sebastian an eyeroll, which he grimaces at.

Xander snickers, but then goes serious. “Faith. I need you to listen to me. I’m at your house.”

I blink. It takes me a few seconds to realise that he means my old house, not the Manor. “Oh?” My voice goes slightly squeaky. “Uhm…”

“What?” Sebastian hisses. “Where is he?”

I wave my hand to get him to shut up.

“Why are you there?” I ask in my still squeaky voice.

“I’ve taken care of a problem for you,” he states. “Can you meet me here?”

“Yes, yes, of course,” I stammer. “I’ll tell Ben.”

He’s hung up before I’ve even finished speaking.

“Go to my old house. I think Xander has done something…”

“Xander-ish?” Ben asks.
