“You can’t keep me from her.”
“Actually, I can. You are on private property and the last idiot to trespass isn’t here to talk about it.”
My brain races to figure out who this fucker is. He can’t be her stepdad, they look too much alike and he isn’t old enough, so I’m going with her brother. But the question is, did the stepdad send him to retrieve his slave? That’s what I’m going to enjoy beating the crap out of him for.
“Faith!” he yells again. “Faith!”
“Shut the fuck up,” Xander growls. “You aren’t getting anywhere near her. She isouromega. You aren’t getting your hands on her.”
“She is mysister, for fuck’s sake!” her brother growls.
Definitely an alpha, but a packless one it seems, seeing as he is here solo.
“Bullshit,” Xander snarls.
“Shut it,” Sebastian snarls at him.
I grab the guy by his shirt front and growl in his face. “Who are you?”
“Derek,” he says. “Faith’s brother. I know she’s here, so you let me see her now before I start kicking some arses.”
Sebastian snorts, but lets Xander go.
I haul Derek into the entrance hall at the same time as Faith stumbles drowsily down the stairs.
“Faith!” he shouts out.
“Derek?” she asks with a frown. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Trying to find you,” he says desperately. “I’m here now, you don’t need to stay with these pricks. Come back to my place where I can keep you safe.”
“She’s safe here,” I inform him.
His eyes pin mine furiously. “No, she isn’t. You think I trust a pack of alphas around her at this time? Get knotted. Give me my sister back or I’ll call the Inter-pack Parliament and report you for abduction.”
“Derek,” Faith says, “It’s okay. I’m okay.”
“My father is the head of the Inter-pack Parliament,” Sebastian says smugly. “Not sure you’d get very far.”
I watch as his face falls, but he rallies and focuses on Faith. “Faith, tell them you want to come with me.” He holds his hand out for her.
All stares go to Faith at the bottom of the stairs, her hand on the banister for support.
“Faith,” I say calmly. “Tell him you want to stay.”
She looks from him to me and licks her lips.
In the next second, Derek flies out of my grip as Xander launches at the intruding alpha, flattening him against the expensive plush carpet. His fist connects sharply with Derek’s nose before he grips his shirt, lifting him up only to smash his head back against the floor, knocking him unconscious.
“Jesus,” I say with exasperation. “Someone put a leash on him, will you?”
ChapterNineteen
Faith
My senses snap together when I see my brother laid out on the floor with Xander smashing his head in. I lurch forward at the same time that Benjamin grabs Xander’s shirt at the back and hauls him off Derek, growling like a wild alpha.
“Xander,” I say quietly. “It’s okay, he’s my brother.”
