‘Seb’s’ eyes flash with danger and he releases me from his bite, pushing me back slightly.
“It’s to keep her safe until we get her home,” he murmurs, eyes never leaving mine.
“Safe?” I spit out, my fire suddenly reappearing after it was temporarily banked by the hot, growly alpha bod I’m still nestled up against. I take a giant step back. “Let me go!” I yell as loudly as I can, but no one even bats an eye.
“Let’s go,” Seb states and stalks past me, yanking me along with the tie, making me stagger behind him until Hazel-eyes rights me with a hand under my elbow and whose scent I can now pick up.
It makes my knees weak.
Summer rain.
A totally different animal to woodsy rain.
This is completely undignified, and the survival instinct kicks in again and I start to struggle.
“Nope,” Marshmallows says. “We have you, we are not losing you again.”
He sweeps me off my feet, cradling me like a child and marches off, apparently his boo-boo balls all better now.
Seb lets the tie go and smirks as I wiggle about, trying to get free. But my captor is like a giant with all the strength of one, so yeah, I’m not going anywhere unless I bite him. Sadly, the only place close enough to my mouth is his neck and that isn’t happening. Not in a month of Sundays.
There’s nothing left for it, but to be hauled away like a prisoner and stuffed into the back of a waiting black Mercedes, which appeared at the curb side, the second we hit the pavement.
“Please let me go,” I whisper to Marshmallows.
“Can’t do that, petal,” he says with a soft smile, squashing into the back seat with me, while Ocean-breeze slips in on the other side.
I glare at him, but he ignores me and starts sniffing my hair, tangling his fingers into the wet mess.
I let out a soft sob as the other two alphas get in the front, Summer-rain replacing the driver who gets out to, I don’t know…walk home?
Wherever home is.
“Why do you want me?” I weep, the tears flowing freely now. “I just want to go home.”
Well, that’s a lie, but they don’t know that.
“Don’t, Strawberries, I can smell the lies on you,” Ocean-breeze murmurs in my ear.
I cringe.
Not from being caught out so much, but because now I think I stink like a liar, and a fearful one at that.
He nuzzles my neck, but Marshmallows slaps his face away with a low growl. “Hands off.”
“We’ve been searching for you for a very long time,” Seb states but leaves it at that.
“Why?” I cry. “What did I do?”
He turns to look at me with those hard eyes and I sink back into the seat. “You fucked the wrong man, Strawberries,” he grits out and then faces forward again and no more words are spoken, from anyone.
Not even me.
All I can think is who? Who did I fuck that wasn’t therightman? I mean the list isn’t exhaustive, but it’s not exactly count on one hand either.
I close my mouth after that and focus. As soon as the doors open, the two alphas on either side of me have to get out. With a bit of luck, I can make my escape and just keep running and running until I finally outrun them. It is my only option. I’m not staying here with these arseholes. They can get knotted. I just need the courage to say it out loud to their faces.
I sigh. Yeah, none of that is likely to happen.
