He gets up to leave, but I grab his hand. He stops and looks down at me with his blue eyes that makes me melt into a pile of goo. “Thank you for everything and thank you for not making a bigger deal out of the pills. I will be ready soon, but things need to be right, first.”
He nods slowly. “I hear you. I want things right first too, but before all of that, you need to trust us, one hundred percent, Faith.”
“I’m working on it,” I murmur.
He lets go of my hand and leaves, with Xander following him. I know he’s upset, but I can’t go from semi trust to full trust literally overnight. He must know that.
“Sebastian?” I call out.
He stops, but it takes him a few seconds to turn around again.
“I want this. All of this. You four and everything you can give me. Just please give me a minute to sort out this…” I jab my head with my finger a few times.
He softens and smiles. “Minute given.”
Then they leave me alone, wondering when the next lot of my fucking food is going to arrive.
ChapterForty-Four
Faith
Derek arrives with the rest of my food a few minutes later. He kicks the door open a bit more, and strides in with a tray piled high with food.
“Since when did you eat so much?” he asks, plonking it down on the bed next to me.
“Since I fucking well can. Jesus. A breakfast bowl of spaghetti with a teaspoon of pasta sauce might be in the past, but it also looms in my future if I fuck this up.”
“Why would you fuck it up?”
“By doing stupid stuff, like yesterday.” I stuff a muffin in my mouth and start to chew. “I don’t know how to live like this.”
“I know,” he says with a sigh. “You’ve been so messed about, Faith and I’m sorry. I should’ve done more.”
He looks so desolate, I feel bad.
I don’t answer because I’m muffin-mouth, so he continues.
“They care about you, love you, even, Faith. I was really not sure about this at the beginning, but they are good guys. They will take care of you.”
“Ish fat yur bleshing?” This time, I end up spraying Derek with muffin crumbs.
“Eww,” he says, brushing them away. “Gross. Do that to them and youwillfuck this up. But, yeah. You’ve got my blessing. Dad will be proud.”
I nod and get a bit teary but then what he said, chills my blood and makes me freeze.
“What did you say?”
He smiles and taps the side of his nose. “Can’t say too much, so don’t even ask, but I think Dad is alive, Faith. I don’t know where, but the guys are helping me. We’ll find him. I promise.”
“WHAT?” I roar, reaching out and grabbing the front of his t-shirt. “You fucking what?”
“Calm down,” he says, unwrapping my hand from his shirt. “I know you have a million questions, but I can’t answer them right now. You are just going to have to sit tight.”
“Sit. Tight?” I grit out. “How long have you known about this?”
“Since the day he died. Well, not exactly. I knew there was something weird going on. I’ve been investigating. It’s all lead to Pete being involved so he could take over Dad’s life.”
I blink as that hits me square between the eyes. “What?” I ask now, in a lower tone. “What?”
