“Uh…yeah?”

“Yes.” I grinned. I almost tried for faux serious, but I didn’t have it in me. “You could’ve just asked me out. You didn’t have to pretend about the pumpkins.”

He ducked his head. Shyly.

I loved when he did that.

“Uh, okay.” He drew himself up to his impressive height. “Fine.”

“Great. I’ll get the pie and you practice those words.”

He grinned. “Yeah, I can do that.” Then he ducked his head. "And maybe you'll come to Wyatt and Tate's bonfire with me tonight? They, uh, said I could bring a date."

I rolled my eyes. Of course my friends were having a bonfire to celebrate the end of the festival. And they likely hadn't invited me because they wanted Ashton to do it. I suspected if I texted Wyatt that things hadn't ended well, I'd have landed an invite. "I'd love to go with you. I might even hold your hand." "Yeah...I think I'd like that."

Later that night we didn't just hold hands at the bonfire. Nope. We cuddled and, after I drove Ashton home, we actually kissed. Apparently s'mores were the way to a man's heart.

Chapter One

Gil

The day Cullen McMaster walked back into my life, said life turned upside down.

He stood before me—five foot ten with blond, shaggy hair and the bluest of eyes. Eight years might’ve passed since we’d last seen each other, but that time slipped away in an instant.
