“I hear you. Do you need to use the bathroom?”

“Yes,” Areli spoke, leading the way. She, without question, kept Savanhi on her toes.

She sprang to her feet and grabbed her hand. “Girl, you’re too fast for me. Come on.”

Once they were done, Noble was waiting at the entrance to escort them back to the car. Like earlier, he got Areli in with ease and opened the passenger side door, waited for Savanhi to get in, and closed the door. Before he could pull out of the parking lot, Areli was knocked out.

“Damn, I’m going to have to fight her to wash,” Noble gritted. “She has hands.”

“If she’s strapped, I believe she can fight too,” Savanhi softly spoke. “Just wipe her down good with a warm towel and do a bath in the morning. Choose your battles.”

“How do you know so much?”

“My brother did that to me. He was nine with a four-year-old.”

“Shit,” Noble blew.

“Yeah. I’m in Royal Palms,” she said, not wanting to share but couldn’t fight how it just came out.

“Got you.”

“Thanks. This kinda beat sitting on my couch and watching the Mahogany channel.”

“I’m a good time. But you know that already.”

“Every conversation can’t come back to reference your dick.”

Noble raised a brow. “That sounds like you’re taking that rule back.”

“I’m not.”

He eased his SUV into the wet parking lot of building 4900 Silver Palm, double-parking behind an old school Monte Carlo. There was a summer rain that ended, while they needed it to cool off the heat, Savanhi dropped her head back.

“I left the windows down,” she huffed more to herself than to Noble.

He looked over his shoulder to find Areli slumped over. And then at Savanhi, attempting to open the door. He locked it and grunted.

“You see me sitting here, right?” he questioned with the perfect balance of firmness and softness.

“Yeah…”

“I got the door,” he replied, opening his door and swinging his long legs out. His sneaker-covered feet trekked over the wet pavement, grabbing her bags out the trunk then appearing at her door. “Go put these away and come back with the keys.”

“Is please anywhere in your vocabulary?” Savanhi sassed, taking the bags from him.

“You know how I do,” he responded, making her jaw flex slightly.

“You don’t need to try to be the hero, I got it.”

“Girl, go get the keys and stop playing with me before you don’t even make it up there.”

“Is that a threat? To what, kidnap me?”

“Don’t let the bat and glove fool you, I’m still a CK. I’m not above it.”

“Something is off with you,” Savanhi huffed, adjusting her bags on her shoulder.
