“We haven’t decided on names yet,” Indi says with a laugh, pulling Cami into a hug as she kisses the top of her head. “But we can all take a vote on our favorite boy or girl names.”
“Kai Junior?” Kai suggests. “If it’s a boy.”
Dad tries to slap him upside the head, but Kai is too quick.
“I don’t know, Kai Junior could be a good girl’s name, too.” I smirk.
My brother gives me the middle finger, which he promptly gets told off for by Dad.
“Well, we’re all very happy for you, aren’t we, kiddos?” I say chirpily.
I glance at Cami as she smiles up at me.“I am,” she says. “Ooh, can we decorate the spare room for a nursery?”
Kai rolls his eyes and goes on eating his roast.
“Of course we can, sweetheart,” Indi says. “I was going to ask Deanna to help with the design, but I’d love all of your input.”
As I sit back down, I watch our little family and tuck back into my meal. It’s nice. Having us all together like this and seeing Indi and Dad over the moon with their joy. It makes mefeel all tingly inside that I’m going to have a new baby brother or sister…
“I’m sure they’re gonna be great parents,” Cale goes on as I snap out of my daydream.
I start upstairs. He can either gawk at my ass, or follow me, or wait downstairs, but I have to rescue some brownies. “I’ve gotta just grab something out of the oven.”
“Is that what that delicious smell is?” Cale asks as I hear his footsteps behind me.
“Yup.”
“Do you bake late at night all the time?”
I turn as his eyes lift from my ass. I grin. “When I’m in the mood for it, yes.”
Jesus. I may be playing with fire, but the way he looks at me with those light blue eyes makes me want to surrender to him right here and now. Especially in uniform. Especially with fucking handcuffs. I may not have had much experience, but I know I’d enjoy being tied to the bed and at his mercy. The thought makes my cheeks burn.
I head to the kitchen as he follows; Calli right next to him as they come to a halt between the galley kitchen and the hallway.
“You don’t cook downstairs?”
I shake my head as I bend to take the brownies out. “Too much messing around, and those big ovens are commercial, I only had one tray. I mean, it’s just me… unless you’d like one? I have ice cream.”
Again, that look crosses his face, and I wish he’d just grab the bull by the horns and do something. I like that I shake him up, but not enough for him to shake me. And boy, could he shake that ass as much as he wanted all night long. I’ve touched myself thinking about this man and how he would feel on top of me. His weight pressing me into the mattress as his lips burn my skin. Oh, how I have dreamed.
“I should get back soon.”
I set the tray on top of the stove, tossing my oven mitts, and break off a piece of the crumbly, gooey goodness. “Oh, my god,” I gush. I don’t make a lot of food well, but I make good brownies. “They’re really, really amazing. You have to try one.”
When I turn to face him, he’s watching me intently. Swallowing hard, he flicks his eyes to Calli and says, “Down.” Calli immediately drops and lies on the floor. After a few seconds, Cale adds, “Stay.”
Calli drops her head to her paws. Such a clever girl.
“Sure you don’t want some?”
Before I know what’s happening, he walks toward me and my breath catches in my chest. He’s not looking at the brownie, he’s staring at me as I drop it back into the pan. “You have a little…” His hand comes up and his thumb swipes over my bottom lip. Smearing chocolate on his thumb, he brings it to his mouth and then sucks it off, his eyes never leaving mine.
My heart races in my chest as I try and remember how to breathe. His hand then cups one side of my face as he whispers. “I shouldn’t be here.”
“Yes, you should.”
“I should stay away. If I were a good man, I would leave you alone.”
