Emma pretends to gag. But I catch the tiny smile she hides behind her muffin.

Eventually, she leaves with leftover muffins and a copy of my upcoming release that has an indecent number of sticky notes and passive-aggressive edits.

I’m curled up on the couch, laptop open, half-working on my next manuscript. I’m mid-sentence when my inbox dings. The subject line freezes me mid-keystroke.

Subject:Option Offer: "Plot Twist in Pelican Point"

My breath catches like someone pulled the plug on gravity. For a second, I can’t even blink.

"Sebastian."

He’s across the room, still shirtless, this time holding a power drill like it’s an extension of his soul. "Yeah, baby?"

I blink. "My book. It got optioned."

He lowers the drill, eyes narrowing like he’s trying to make sure he heard right. “As in… movie?”

I nod, stunned. “They want to make it a movie. Like, actual actors. Real lighting. Maybe even a tasteful fade-to-black.”

He walks over, kisses me, then grins wickedly. "Does this mean I have to audition for your love scenes now?"

I raise a brow. "Only if you’re ready to do your own stunts."

He leans in, grinning, “Spoiler: I already do.”

Fade to black—like every good ending. Except this one’s real.

A haunted mask. A seductive historian. A masquerade that could turn deadly.

I’m Allison Bennett, security specialist, former military, and not here for ghost stories. But this Halloween in Pelican Point? Things are getting strange.

Saltmoor House is hosting an exclusive masquerade party. The centerpiece? A jeweled, ceremonial mask that’s rumored to be cursed. My job? Protect the art, keep the billionaires safe, and ignore the brooding curator who thinks he knows everything.

Nolan Porter, the local art historian, is brilliant, ex-military, and entirely too smooth. He challenges me at every turn, and kisses like he owns my body and soul. But as the lines between legend and reality start to blur, we’re forced into a dangerous partnership with no room for denial.

When guests start to collapse while wearing the replica masks, we’re thrown into a mystery that blurs the line between sabotage and something darker. Someone is using the legend of the Reina de Oro to orchestrate chaos. If we don’t uncover the truth fast, someone’s going to use this cursed legend to spill real blood.

I came for a job.

What I found might just be the one man who sees past my armor…

And makes me want to stay.

Up next for me is Ranger’s Honor

She’s my best friend’s little sister. And the woman I can’t walk away from.

Protecting people is what I do. I’ve been a Navy SEAL, a wolf-shifter Ranger, and a weapon most men don’t see coming. But nothing prepared me for Kari Bonham.

She’s my best friend’s little sister. Off-limits. Too bright, too bold, and too deep under my skin. I’ve kept my distance for years until now.

She’s digging into a cartel conspiracy that got her friend killed, and the closer she gets to the truth, the more danger she’s in. Team W assigns me to keep her safe. I tell myself it’s just another mission.

Until I catch her scent and my wolf stops dead.

She’s mine.

Claiming her would start a war, with her brother, with myself, maybe even with Kari. But when a ghost from the past is hired to take her out, there’s no more room for doubt.

She’s not just a mission.

She’s everything.

And I’ll put a bullet in anyone who tries to take her from me.
