“Then hand it over.” She shook her palm toward me, and as I took about a minute to contemplate whether I should or not, she snatched the device from my hand.

“What the hell, Kate?” I shouted while diving in to grab it, but she quickly hopped off the bed with my phone and blue sticky note in her hand.

“You’re just going to have to trust me here, Wren.” She started typing on the screen, glancing back and forth between my phone and the note.

I swear to God if she’s doing what I think she’s doing….

“Don’t you dare text him, Kate.” I demanded with a growl. A few seconds passed, and she continued to ignore me as she tapped away at my phone screen. “Kate, please.” I begged.

“Alright…. And done.” She grinned and tossed me my phone back. Catching it, I quickly went to my messages.

Me: Hayes, this is Wren. I just wanted to thank you for the Jersey you left and for the invite to your game. I’d be more than happy to go and cheer you on ;)

Oh my god, she did not add a wink…

Me: I’ll be bringing my roommate with me, too, so just send me the details, and we can go from there

I was going to kill her.

My hand tightened around my phone to the point it started to burn. I couldn’t believe she sent that to him without my permission, nonetheless! That didn’t even sound like me to begin with.

“I wanted to show him your sweet side.” She shrugged and jumped back onto her bed.

“Kate, do you know what you just did…” I questioned with a serious tone. I had a feeling she knew exactly what she did, but she wasn’t worried about the consequences because they, in no way, would affect her. She only saw this as doing me a favor.

Sighing, she took my shoulders into her grip and looked me straight on.

“I gave you a push, Wren. I promise you’ll thank me later.” Then on cue, my phone dinged.

My whole body froze as Kate squealed.

“What are you doing!? Look at your phone!” She demanded.

Groaning, I peered down at the new message notification and tapped on it.

Unknown: Wow… I, uh, is this Wren? Because this definitely doesn’t sound like something Blue would say. At all.

Of course, he would know that it wasn’t me who texted. I came off as way too friendly and eager for someone who continuously told him to leave me alone. Glaring over at Kate, she threw her hands up in surrender.

Me: Yeah, sorry, this is Wren now, but my roommate was the one who messaged you before.

“He knows it wasn’t me who messaged him.” I snapped while receiving another message in thirty seconds.

Unknown: Oh, damn. That sounds like something Mal would do. So, I probably got my hopes up for nothing, huh?

Mal? Who was Mal, and why did my heart sink at the mention of a girl’s name?

Me: Mal? And I guess so, sorry. I didn’t know she was going to text you that.

He got his hopes up? Why did I suddenly feel like shit now? It wasn’t like he actually thought I would show up, right?

“What is he saying?” Kate asked over her computer, but I frowned.

“I think he’s upset? It’s hard to tell.” I shook my head while trying to figure out what the hell I was going to do.

“What did you say to him?” Her brow lifted accusingly at me.

Before I could respond, another text came through.
