Damn.
I pulled off my jacket, now warm from the air con, and headed into the bathroom. I looked a little better as I took a gander in the mirror and washed my face. As I moved back out, I thought about what I was going to have for dinner when a knock on mydoor startled me. My heart was beating furiously as I looked at the door.
Oh my god.
No one knows where I am.
No one could possibly know.
Maybe it was just a staff member asking if I was okay or to tell me about the storm.
Fuck, Hadley, just open the goddamn door.
My fear was getting the best of me as I moved to the door and opened it only to see the one person I knew would bring me kicking and screaming back to my dad.
Rhett fucking Nicholas.
I tried to close it but he shoved his foot in the gap and shoved the door back, sending me flying into the room. His cocky smile once he realised he was in had my gut churning and my anger mounting.
He was not going to take me home.
“How did you find me?”
“You know that’s what I do for a living,” he said, annoyed. “Now get your shit. Your dad wants you home.”
“Fuck you.”
His head cocked to the side, and for a moment, I felt a flurry of fear. I knew the kind of man he had turned into, the evil kind. The kind my dad paid him generously for to sweep his problems under the rug. Hekilledfor fun, and at the behest of my father.
“I’m not marrying that asshole.”
It must have been the crazy weather outside, because for a moment, I saw a glimmer of pity in his eyes, and not the all out monster I knew him to be.
“Yes, you are.”
“I’m not leaving with you. They’ll have you fucking arrested if you touch me. My father has no reach here.”
“Is that why you came here?” he asked me.
“It doesn’t matter why I came here. You need to turn your ass around and leave or I’ll scream.”
He sighed, put his bag down and held his hand out. I pushed myself up using the end of the bed, not wanting to touch him.
“One way or another, princess, whether it be in a suitcase or by your own legs, we’re going back to Sydney today.”
A loud crash behind me made me jump as I turned to see the crazy storm brewing over the water. There’s no way a plane would be flying through that.
“Doubtful,” I said, as I turned back to him. “Looks like you’re stuck here, buddy. If you go down to the foyer, I’m sure they’ll find you a nice room to stay in.”
He smirked at me again. “If you think I’m leaving this room without you, you’ve got another thing coming. Storms come and go. We just have to ride this one out and we can be on our merry way.”
“You’re not staying here with me,” I said, looking at the one bed and realising I’d have to share it with him.
“Yeah, princess, I am. Now hand over the remote, I hear this place has room service.”
Fuck.
I started to panic as I realised the reality of the situation had my freedom passing me by. I wasn’t going to be able to leave without him dragging me back home.
