“Rhett?” he pauses his packing to look at me. “Who messaged you?” he lets out a sigh and looks away from me and continues packing.

“Rhett, please?” I place my hand on his pausing his packing.

He sighs and places one of his hands on my cheek and kisses my forehead.“It was your father. He wants an urgent update. I hadn’t heard from him since the storm started, and I knew his fucking silence was too good to be true.”

We had been trapped in our bubble for the last few days, that I hadn’t even thought of my father once, or the consequences of his calls and messages going unanswered.

“Did you tell him?” I ask as my chest fills with anxiety. Rhett continues packing his bag and then abruptly stops to look back at me.“Austin figured out where I was. He tracked my flight here. He’s booked us on the first flight out in a couple of hours. ”

I sucked in a deep breath, not once did he give me up. He never told my father where I was but my brother had probably been put under the wrench, because there had been no reception.

My freedom was gone. There was no way around this, and I cared about him too much to disappear on him again. I had to face this, my fate, my future with an abusive monster like Emerson.

“Ok,” I whisper. Rhett slams a draw and looks back at me.

“Okay? You’re just going to give in now? Hadley, I may have to take you back, but you can fucking do something about it.”

I walk over to him and put my hand on his chest, feeling his heartbeat underneath. It was strong and hard, and I knew it was because he wanted to protect me, yet again.

Somehow, in this twisted life, I knew this heart beat for me.

“If you don’t take me back, you suffer, and if you do, I suffer. I’m okay with that. I’ve suffered my father’s wrath most of my life.”

“Make him pay,” Rhett says, as he takes my hand and kisses it before he grabs my bag and opens the door to the room.

My heart is in my throat as I walk past him, feeling as if every foot was too heavy.

We check out with the hotel and they wish us well, ushering us toward the taxi rank close by. A taxi stood there, waiting for us.

The driver grabbed the bag, and chucked it in the back, as I stood at the backseat, contemplating what was waiting for me on the other end of that plane ride.

Rhett opened the door, and I got in the back seat. He got on the other side of the back seat and looked over at me.

There was something in his eyes that I couldn’t put my finger on.

I could feel tears threatening as I realised this was going to be goodbye to my freedom, to my free will, to Rhett and that glorious pierced dick that could do things to me.

I was never going to hear the words ‘Good Girl’from him again.

I so desperately wanted to be his good girl.

“Where to?” the taxi driver asked, looking at us from the rearview mirror.

I looked over at Rhett, who looked just as anxious as I did.

He didn’t say anything, and I didn’t either.

We could go to the airport and go back to face our fate or we could grab another plane, or boat, and run.

That way we could be together.

“Did you hear me?” the taxi driver asked again.

I opened my mouth just as Rhett did to answer, and all I could do was pray it would be the same answer.

Rhett

“To the airport,” Hadley lets out a sigh at my response.
