"The car will be delivered here."
She got out of the vehicle, clearly agitated. "I cannot ride in with you. I'll just call for an Uber..."
Snagging her hand, he marched her over to the BMW this time and opened the passenger side. Almost lifting her, he put her in and secured the belt himself.
"Dante."
"Be quiet."
Folding her hands on her chest, she waited until he was seated before rounding on him. "You might be my boss..."
"And the man you're going to marry." He pushed the button and warmth flooded the vehicle, almost making her purr.
The seat was plush and as soft as butter and was already warming her butt.
"People are going to talk."
He slid her a glance and drove out of the parking lot. "That's the idea. It's time everyone knew."
Chapter 14
He kept glancing over at her and she avoided looking at him. It amused him that she had kept quiet since they started out. He loved having her in the car next to him. It somehow felt right.
"Cashmere looks good on you. I have an account at Romano's."
"You're not buying me clothes." She kept her eyes in front of her.
"I could give Monique your size." He stopped at the light and snagged her hand before she could resist and brought it to his lips. "Very soon, you'll be wanting maternity clothes. I also need the name of your doctor."
She turned her head and stared at him haughtily. "Why? So you can see if she's good enough?"
"Precisely," he said mildly.
She tugged at her hand, but he kept it in his, sliding it onto his thigh. The light turned green then and she caught her breath at the flexing of his leg muscles as he shifted into gear.
"I am staying with my doctor."
"We'll see."
"Let go of my hand."
"I like the feel of you on me."
The corporate building came into sight, and she felt her apprehension increasing. As he turned into the large parking garage, she tried to change tactics and reason with him. His designated parking space was underground, near the private elevator. As soon as he stopped, a guard rushed over, stopping when Dante simply sent him a curt nod.
"Let me get out here."
"Why? We're going to the same place."
"Dante."
He turned to look at her, eyebrows raised. "You aren't ashamed to be seen with me, are you?"
She almost gritted her teeth at his insouciance. "Look." Taking a deep breath, she tried again. "We could do this gradually. Tell a few key people and then..."
"No." He started to open the door, but she gripped his arm.
"At least let me tell my brother first."
