The moment those soft pillows connect with mine, I hold my phone out and snap a picture of our perfect trio. August hums against my lips, our connection never wavering until the sound of Kodi’s fawning interrupts us from continuing.

My eyes find Apollo as we part, and the sweetest of yelps escapes his lips as he claps his hands. “Ball.”

“Yeah, champ. Ball.” August smiles at me, and my heart couldn’t be more content. “Tell your mommy to write a decent caption for that one.” He winks.

Without a second thought, I type it into my phone and click post. It’s perfect. Fitting to show off the two most importantmen in my life.

The two that complete our three—my home.

It’s messy and loud. Not at all how I planned. But this? This is what protecting home looks like.
