As much as I wanted to be annoyed with her, I couldn’t. The fact that she was even at my house knowing that there was a chance I wasn’t home, made up for it.

Maybe once I see her and have her in my arms, I will forget how tired I am and get lost in her in all the ways that I can.

A smile forms on my face at the thought of having her, and it stays there as I make it up to the house.

Once I make it to the driveway though the smile disappears, because Eliana is currently speed walking out of the house as if it was set on fire or something.

Right away, I start to panic.

I look up at the house and nothing is wrong on that front, so whatever is happening is happening directly to her.

Seeing her running out of the house like that takes me by surprise. I become motionless and unable to speak. It’s not until she starts to struggle to open her car door that I’m finally able to get out of my stupor.

“Eliana,” I say, announcing myself in the calmest way possible. She already looks scared; I don’t need her to get even more terrified.

At the sound of my voice, she jumps and frantically turns until she finds me at the end of the driveway.

She looks from me back to the house.

“Wha-what are you doing out here?” she asks, her voice shaking telling me that she’s been crying.

“I just got here.” I tell her.

I close the distance between us, seeing that she has in fact been crying when I’m about two feet away. The second I see tears rolling down her face, I close the distance, even move and take her face between my hands, looking her over and trying to see if she’s okay.

“What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” I wipe at her tears trying to stop them, but they just keep on coming.

“You aren’t supposed to be out here. I just saw you inside. You were just inside,’ she says, shaking her head, all the while more tears fall out of her eyes and her bottom lip starts to tremble.

“Baby, I just got here. I just got home,” I say, bringing her closer to me and cradling her head against my chest.

“If you just got home, then who the hell is inside fucking some chick? My eyes didn’t lie to me, Christian. You were inside with a woman on your lap and her hand on your body like she owned the damn thing.” She yells, trying everything to push me away from her but I don’t budge.

What the fuck is going here?

I run through Eliana’s words as she tries to free herself from my hold.

Someone that looks like me is inside screwing someone. My guess is that Eliana probably just got here, walked in on whoever is in my house and since she thought it was me, she ran out, hurt, that I was with another woman when I told her I would only be with her for the duration of our time together.

“Are you sure whoever is inside looks like me?” I ask, pulling back from her, my heart hurting at the sight of tears in her eyes.

She gives me a nod. “Yes, dark hair and muscles.”

Sounds about right. I tear my eyes away from her face and look around the street in front of the house. Sure enough, the car that I’m looking for is parked in front of my neighbor’s house. How I missed it when I pulled up is beyond me.

He’s fucking dead.

I untangle myself from Eliana ready to storm inside the house and rip my brother in half.

“It wasn’t me inside the house,” I say to her as I walk to the front door. Thankfully she follows me.

“Then who was it?”

“My idiot brother who is about to meet a slow painful death.” I say, pushing the front door open and instantly get met with a slow song and the smell of sex.

Oh, he’s dead.

I storm through the entryway and slam my hand against the light switch to light up the living room.
