I slip back down to my seat and pull my dress down to cover myself.
"Jack, I'm so glad I caught you. I need your help with my manuscript, and you're the only one who can assist."
"Paul, I'm in the middle of something."
"My deadline is tomorrow. Please, Jack, I'll make it up to you."
"I don't think you know what you're asking me, friend."
The man eyes me, but his determined face remains unchanged.
"This is really important, Jack."
"It's okay, Jack. We can continue this tomorrow." I say, resigned that my hot night is over.
Jack sighs. "I'll drop off Emily and see you at your house, Paul."
The drive to my house is silent, mainly because I don't want to break down and beg him to ditch his friend and spend the night having sex with me. When we arrive, I give him a quick peck on the cheek and run like a frightened prey up to my house.
I guess it will have to be just me and my toys tonight.
Chapter 6
Jack
After one long and busy night I find myself in my best friend's kitchen waiting for breakfast. We've done this a ton of times during the time we've known each other, but this is the first time I've resented him for it.
"So tell me about this very young girl that has you growling at spending time with me."
"I wasn't growling."
"You were grumpy and said some harsh words that I must admit hurt my feelings."
"I'm sorry, Paul. I've just never felt this way about someone in all my years."
"Where did you meet her?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Try me."
"It was pure chance. She dialed me, and our phone conversation turned into something sexy pretty fast. I thought I'd never get to meet her, then that Monday I was entranced by this new Student Counselor at the faculty meeting."
"So two women in just a few days. Maybe it's a case of hormones."
"I thought I was going crazy, but when I finally confronted her, I realized they were one and the same."
"She works at the university?” Paul’s eyebrows rose. “Is that a conflict of interest?"
"No. Maybe. I don't know."
"You've got it bad for her."
"I've never felt so drawn to someone. She's smart, beautiful, and sexy. Having dinner with her last night was torture. I couldn't wait for the end of the date."
"And I took you away from her. Sorry, not sorry."
"Do you think our age difference will be a barrier?"
