“Watch where the fuck you’re going.”

“What the hell?” I laughed as I slipped around him. “It was an accident. Chill the fuck out.”

“Did you just laugh at me?” He took a step toward me, but my back was already to him. I let out a burst of air, just enough to trip him, but he hit the ground way harder than expected. So much for keeping a low profile.

“Landon! Fuck, are you okay?” The GTA from my class was right behind the mountain of a man –Landon, and she zeroed in on me before her pale green eyes, a perfect match to Landon’s, hardened into a glare.

Wonderful.

“Did you just trip him?” she squawked at me, and I shrugged. “You’ll be disciplined for that!” she snapped.

Yikes.

I quickly took in my surroundings. There were too many people around. Some were stopping in the hall to gawk, others were snickering. The GTA looked like she was ready to explode.

“Calm down, Lana.” A smooth, deep voice said from behind me. “I was right here. If you want to discipline someone for tripping the dumbass, you’ll have to whip his feet. He tripped himself.”

“Aiden.” The GTA –Lana, spat.

I couldn’t stop myself. I pushed myself toward her mind, and nearly laughed when I was met without any resistance at all.

Fucking Landon. Always in fucking trouble. Mom’s going to fucking kill me. Who is this bitch looking at? Is she a bitch? Did she trip him? Fuck, fuck, fuck. It’s happening again. I need to see Mr. Craig–

Lana then went back through her memory of the trip, thoroughly convincing herself she had been seeing things, and as quickly as that, I was off the hook.

I almost laughed. Her mind was a mess.

“Come on,” a tall guy next to Landon said with a sneer. He pushed his dirty blonde hair out of his face as he looked me over. “She’s not worth getting written up over.”

“Give it a rest, Anton.” Lana growled, then yanked Landon after her. He sent me one more snarl over his shoulder and I only grinned in response, because my sense of self-preservation was fucked. Anton, the tall guy, followed behind them without giving me another glance.

“You’re certainly making yourself popular,” The same deep voice came from behind me.

I glanced over my shoulder to see my new fiery crush, and he was smirking at me again.

With! Dimples!

Aiden. Lana had called him Aiden.

Not in the mood for whatever the fuck this was, I patted his chest. “Thanks, fireball. See you around.”

Aiden made a sound of disbelief, and then his sneakers were pounding the stone floors as he caught up to me, falling into step beside me like he’d meant to do so the whole time.

We nearly walked the length of the courtyard before Aiden spoke. I’d been carefully ignoring his presence beside me while trying to act natural.

“Fireball?” he asked finally, then he groaned. “My hair.”

I grinned. “It’s better thanRed, right?”

“Yeah, don’t call me that.” Aiden muttered, his cheeks turning slightly pink. “My name’s Aiden.”

“Yeah, I heard.” I replied.

Aiden raised an eyebrow. “Most people share their name back when meeting someone.”

“I’m not most people,” I replied, then mentally kicked myself forflirting. My chest ached slightly and I rubbed it with a wince. Thelastthing I needed was to develop another lethal crush…or whatever the fuck had happened with Wyatt.

Aiden hadn’t said anything else, and I slowed my steps as I realized he was glaring at my hand on my chest. I dropped it and his glare jumped to my face.
