My knees buckled as another presence brushed up against mine inside Landon’s mind. It wasn’t my shadow, Rafe was nowhere near me. Just like he’d said, Landon had someone else inside his mind. The presence didn’t even realize I was here with it, and I watched in horror as it directed Landon’s next burst of fire right at Aiden.

I pushed the flames away again, and Aiden sent a stream of fire toward Landon, who crumpled as he took the flame and sent it back toward us. Watching Landon’s thoughts, I was able to block his every move, but whoever was inside his mind figured me out.

Suddenly, it was as if Landon exploded.

Streams of fire shot out from all sides of his body as if he were a bomb. He bellowed again, his arms shaking violently as he tried to stop whatever was happening to him.

I was dodging fireballs left and right, and then a large explosion had me flying back into the wall behind me.

“Skye!”

No way.

FuckingWyattcrouched down in front of me, his eyes running over me assessingly. He reached out, probably to heal me, and then–

“Wyatt! Watch it!” Aiden cried out.

Wyatt didn’t even turn around. He only flicked his wrist, and a pile of rock formed into a shield behind him.

“We need to get you out of here,” he said, pulling me to stand.

“No, I need tohelp.” I pushed at him, but his expression hardened.

“That’s not a good idea, Skye.” He growled, which should have been hot but it only annoyed me further. This man infuriated me. I pushed him back, but he caught my wrist, pulling me toward him.

“Fuck off,” I hissed, using my affinity to shove him away from me. Wyatt, because he was an idiot, looked shocked.

A dark voice chuckled from behind us, and I spun around to face Rafe, looking very un-princelike while covered in a splash of blood.

He looked hot as hell, though.

“You heard the lady, Craig. Let her out to play. I want to see what she can do.” He smirked at me, and I returned it easily.

“Rafe,” Wyatt hissed. “Now is not the time.”

Aiden grunted as he sent a massive stream of fire toward Landon.

Right. I spun around. I needed to focus.

There was no reason Landon should have been able to take on three elementals with five affinities between them, but he was doing fine. He’d hardly broken a sweat, though Aiden dripped. Exhaust was setting in, I could feel his muscles straining.

“A little help would be nice, misterroyal highness.” Aiden mocked.

I glanced at Rafe, who was using his shadows to contain the confrontation with Landon, but come to think of it…why wasn’t he moving in on him? Couldn’t the shadows smother the fire?

A stream of fire sailed between where I stood opposite Rafe and Wyatt, and the look at Rafe’s face was pure terror.

Right. I’d forgotten Aiden’s story. The prince was terrified of fire.

“Skye, Goddess, please,” Landon cried. “Stop me.”

“Goddess?” Wyatt muttered. I cringed. I hadn’t told anyone what Landon had asked of me. Not even Zephyr.

“The storm, Skye.Storm.” Landon said through clenched teeth. His arms trembled and he fell to his knees. “He won’t stop.Won’t. Stop.”

“Who, Landon? Tell me!” I shouted.

“Oh, God,” Landon croaked. “I can’t stop!” Terror filled his face, and then he fell to his hands and knees again. He screamed, and a firestorm erupted around us.
