“Uh…Your Highness?” Willow asked mockingly.
I blinked. Right, I was supposed to be speaking, not having dirty thoughts about Skye.
I rolled my eyes playfully. “Willow, I’ve known you since you were three. You can call me by my name, we’re all friends here.”
“Are we?” Mia challenged. “You almost drove Skye insane.”
I waved my hand. “An accident,” I reassured.
Skye gave me an un-impressed look, and I grinned, the grin widening when her cheeks flushed slightly.
I could have flushed, too. Seeing her reaction to me was giving me a strange sensation in my stomach. It was unlike what I’d felt earlier, when dread was eating me alive over Aiden. This was much more…fluttery.
Fuck my life. Was I havingbutterfliesin my stomach?
Horrifying, but not as awful as the cough Aiden let out suddenly, startling all of us.
“Skye…my…” Aiden squeezed his eyes shut, the flushed color from his cheeks slowly fading back to a gray hue.
“What is it? Where?” Skye took his face in her hands as her eyes searched his body.
“I d-don’t know. I think I n-need a…” –he coughed again– “doctor.” Aiden slouched back into Skye’s lap and she looked up at us in alarm, her frightened gaze landing on me.
“Where can we even take him?” Mia asked in a hushed tone.
“Hold on,” I said quickly before leaving through the shadows.
I landed in Wyatt’s office. Wyatt’s dark, locked office.
That motherfucker.
I shadow-walked again, stepping out into Wyatt’s apartment.
“Wyatt, you fucker. Let’s go!” I called out.
Silence greeted me.
I stormed through the apartment, passed the open-concept kitchen and living room and straight into his bedroom.
Hisemptybedroom.
With a few open drawers on his dresser.
I breathed out slowly, rage filling my veins in a way that had shadows writhing in the corners of my vision.
Wyatt had left us. And he was the only fucking Healer I knew.
I reappeared backin Skye’s room with a scowl on my face.
“Wyatt’s gone,” I said softly.
Skye let out a heavy breath.
“What do you mean, gone?” Willow hissed. “Go find him with your weirdo boyfriend connection and get his ass back here, Rafe!”
“Chill out, baby doll.” I said, raising a hand placatingly, then turning to Skye so I missed the venomous expression on Willow’s face. “Wyatt is the only Healer I know. Do you know one?”
“Why would I know one?” Skye mumbled. Her cheeks flamed adorably as I watched her.
