When I came out of the bathroom, I almost laughed again. Aiden looked completely wrecked. His hair stood on end, he was covered in a sheen of sweat. His skin was flushed, making his freckles stand out even stronger.
“You lookwrecked.” I said as I bounced on the bed. Aiden groaned as I cleaned his abs.
“I am,” Aiden murmured in his sweet voice. “That was fucking crazy.”
“I know,” I agreed as I laid on the bed and he snuggled into my side. “We just fit together so perfectly.”
“That’s because I’m made for you,” Aiden murmured, his eyes closed. His breathing deepened slightly as I ran my fingers through his hair.
“You’re perfect for me, Aiden.” I whispered.
Chapter 41
Aiden
I staredat my phone in my hand, counting the rings until the call finally registered as missed, then blew out a breath of relief when the screen darkened.
My mother had been trying to get a hold of me for weeks. I’d been carefully ignoring her calls, though I had caved and answered one from Harper where she could hear I was in class.
At this point, I was pretty sure the only reason Mother hadn’t nuked the school yet was because Wyatt was still sending her information about my appointments.
I hadn’t missed any. Skye took them seriously, and she always made sure I was on time. She always waited for me outside the door, scrolling aimlessly on her phone, insisting she wasn’t bored.
Except for today.
I blew out an irritated breath.
Skye was in the library with Landon.
Again.
I wasn’t worried about Landon. Not at all. Skye made damn sure I knew I was good enough for her. In fact…
I quickly adjusted myself in my jeans, pulling a face. Skye and I had fucked for so long last night, I’d woken up a little sore.
Skye didplentyto make me feel worthy. Her attention was never on anyone else. She hardly paid attention to the other guys in school. She truly only had eyes for me.
Landon didn’t worry me because he could be interested in Skye. He worried me because he was unpredictable. And Lana wasnuts. Everyone knew it. So if Lana was nuts, it wasn’t a far stretch to assume that Landon could be, too. Genetics mattered for craziness, right?
I shivered at my own thoughts. If genetics mattered…that meant I’d be a sadistic freak just like my mother and yet…I wasn’t.
So maybe Landon wasn’t so bad. But I still had suspicions. Part of me was glad he wasn’t after Skye, and part of me was…offended. Like…we’re talking aboutSkye, here. And she wasn’t hot enough for that freak?
His complete one-eighty rubbed me the wrong way, but I couldn’t put my finger on why exactly that was. He’d apologized to us, sure. He’d given us more than passing grades in Health class, and even checked over our homework for other classes, saving my ass more than a few times.
Skye had told me everything Landon said to her, including the part about how he wanted them to be friends, and he wanted things to be different between us. He was more than respectful of our time and space, not holding a grudge if we didn’t end up seeing him for lunch or dinner. I was stumped.
As if I’d summoned the devil, Wyatt’s office door opened, revealing a sniffling Lana Iykos. Her signature bangs were disheveled, like she’d been wiping her face. Her skin was blotchy and her nose red. She’d clearly been crying. See?Crazy.
“Thanks again, Mr. Craig. I’ll see you next week.” She sniffled into a crumpled tissue in her hand, then started down the hallway without glancing at me. She’d never had a session before me before, but everyone knew she was always in here.
Wyatt was an ice king, though. If Lana really wanted to hookup with him like people suspected, she was wasting her time.
“Come on in, Aiden.” Wyatt sighed deeply before striding back to his desk and taking a huge gulp from his coffee mug.
I settled onto the couch, rubbing my hands up and down my thighs anxiously.
Wyatt typed for a few minutes before he organized my usual paperwork. He finally took a deep breath, clasped his hands, then looked at me.
