I may have fallen for her. But I shook that thought right out. Emmy was temporary, despite my not wanting her to be. Despite her wanting to stay. She had to be. She deserved better than anything I had to offer her. Em needed to audition, whether she wanted to or not. And that’s why I set it all up. I didn’t want to hold her back from her dreams, even if she was all my dreams come true.

Not surprisingly, I was ready to go before she was. After making sure Mac had dinner and plenty of water, I headed to Emmy’s room to help her finish up if I could. She was putting on her makeup in the bathroom, still wrapped in a towel.

“Need me to do anything?” I asked, leaning against the door frame, watching her.

“Nope. I’m almost done here. Just need to do my hair and get dressed. Can you let Ty know we’re gonna be just a little later?”

“Already did.” We had planned for it.

“Thanks.” She smiled.

“So, what songs you gonna do?”

“I have no idea,” she sighed. “Any suggestions?” I pretended to think as she combed through her hair. She picked the blow dryer up, using it until her hair was dry.

“What about some covers you’ve practiced?” I asked.

“I planned on a few… I was thinking one by The Civil Wars. Maybe ‘Devil’s Backbone’.”

“That could work.” I paused, watching as she curled the ends of her blonde hair. “Any ones of yours that you want to do?”

“I could do ‘Hole in My Soul’ again. Oh, maybe ‘Black Sheep’ as well.”

“Why don’t you use that one you just finished for your audition piece? The sandcastle one?” I asked.

“I didn’t think about that,” she replied, pausing just a moment. “Honestly, I forgot about the audition. And I’m not sure I’d make the deadline anyway,” she chuckled like it didn’tbother her, but I could tell it did.If you only knew what I have planned, Buttercup.“Plus, I don’t really know it that well yet.”

“That’s a lie,” I called her out. “You were singin’ it loud and proud the other day when you were cleanin’.” It was adorable. She didn’t know I was home and I used that to my advantage, watching as she used the broom as her mic and guitar. When she turned to see me, she screamed, tossing the broom. I laughed. She did not.

She shot me a playful glare in the mirror, and I smirked.

“For real, though, Em. I think you should play that one. I wanna hear it again. It’s beautiful.”

“Fine.” She rolled her eyes. She gave herself a once over before dropping her towel and strutting by me. My head followed that perfectly round ass of hers as she headed to the clothes she had laid out back on the bed. She bent slowly, picking up the dress, her legs spread just enough.

“Emogen,” I warned.

“What?” She looked over her shoulder at me, batting her freshly primed lashes.

“Unless you wanna be even later so I can fuck you silly, I suggest you behave and get dressed quickly.”

“Fine.” But the little brat did the same thing, damn near shaking her ass as she moved.

“Emogen.”

“I’m not doing anything, Carter.”

I let out a sigh, stepping to her before she could move. My hand snaked up the back of her neck, grabbing a fistful of her hair as I pulled her head back. I put my mouth to her ear, my free hand snaking around to her throat, holding it gently as I ground my growing erection into her ass.

“It would be such a shame to mess up this pretty hair and makeup you just spent all that time doin’,” I threatened. “‘Cause I wouldn’t let you fix it after I was done havin’ my way with you. Nah, I’d take you just like that, with mascara streaks, smeared lipstick, and my cum drippin’ down your legs. So, if you don’t want that to happen, get your ass ready.” I pulledaway, but not before giving her ass a slap. “I’ll see you downstairs.”

When we arrivedat Pete’s, there was barely a place to park, but we found one. Most of the town knew she was performing again, so it was packed. She was the only one that didn’t know. That made me grin.

Seemed everyone else knew Emmy was on her way to stardom, too. She had warmed up some more on the drive here, singing along to the songs on the radio.

We got out of the Blazer, and her eyes lingered on the alley again. I blew out a breath, hating what it did to her. Not wanting to cause her more stress, I grabbed her guitar from her hand and led her around the other side.

“It’s busy tonight,” she leaned over and whispered to me when we walked in. “Whoever was supposed to perform must have been pretty good for a crowd like this to turn out, huh?” I nodded, being careful not to smile and give it all away.
