“You callin’ to gossip like an old hen or to get your car fixed?” Tyler barked out a laugh.

“Bring her to Pete’s. I’ll give you dinner on the house. Maybe even my number.”

“I ain’t bringin’ her anywhere. Especially anywhere you are.”

“C’mon! I gotta meet her.” He wasn’t letting this go, so I knew I needed to get a hold of it. Even if that meant telling the truth.

“You already have,” I grumbled.

“What? Who is it? What’s her name?”

“Emmy,” I answered, causing her to look up. I gave a grin, pulling the phone away to mouth “Tyler” to her. She gave a nod, biting her lip as if trying not to smile. I wanted to devour those lips. I hadn’t kissed her yet, knowing it would be too far for both of us. At least, I thought. I knew if I kissed her, there was no way I’d let her go. I’d find dumb reasons to add hours until she was eighty and then some.

“Wait… As in Emmy Rae? The one who performed here a month ago.”

“Yup.”

“No shit,” he gave a humorless chuckle. “What’d you do, pick her up after the show?”

“You could say that.” I mean, technically, Ididpick her up with my rig.

“Dude, you gotta bring her by. People’ve been asking for herto come back. And as luck would have it, I need someone next Friday.”

“I’ll talk to her about it.” It made me think back to earlier when I was helping her with her song. I wasn’t lying when I said it was good. It was better than good.

And then she kissed my cheek… I ignored it.

“Or I can when you bring her by for dinner.” There was a silence. “C’mon, man. It’s free food. I’ll even throw in a beer or two.”

“Fine.”

“Never thought I’d see the day where you actually got yourself a girl,” he teased.

“She’snotmy girl.”Yet,I wanted to add, but didn’t. I saw Emmy shrink again. My heart picked its pace up. Was she upset by what I said? It was the second time she’d reacted to me mentioning our lack of relationship status. If I wasn’t a coward, I would’ve asked.

“Whatever. I’ll see you soon,” I said, hanging up before he could speak again.

“Everything okay?” Em asked. I nodded.

“Let’s go.”

“Go?” I nodded again. “Where?”

“Pete’s. Tyler’s givin’ us free dinner,” I answered. She was up and heading toward the door, a huge smile on her face. As she moved, she spoke.

“Maybe he has another opening for me! I need to come up with a new set, though. If I can get this song done, I’ll perform it.” Fuck, this was getting away from me. She was just about to the door when I grabbed her arm, pulling her back to me.

“When we’re done eatin’, we’re comin’ back here and I’m eatin’ that sweet pussy of yours over and over ‘til you can’t walk.” She let out a small gasp, making my cock twitch. It was just a little incentive to get her back here as soon as possible. I didn’t want to play twenty questions with everyone at the bar today. Especially Ty.

Emmy nodded, her smile growing.

“Or maybe we can close up early and I’ll suck your dick like I was going to before we were interrupted. Use the rest of the day to make each other come?”

“Deal.” I didn’t have to think twice. She giggled and continued walking away. As much as I was looking forward to getting home, I wasn’t looking forward to going to Pete’s.

I knew I shouldn’t have let her leave the house.
