“‘Cause you’re here andyou’reperfect. As long as I’m with you, I don’t give a shit about anythin’ else. And I wanna be with you forever. I knew it from the moment I saw you on that stage a year ago. Whaddya say, Buttercup? Will you marry me?” I nodded frantically. He held out his hand and I took it.

Carter carefully slid the ring over my finger and stood, pulling me into him. I wrapped my arms around him, kissing him deep.

“Let’s go get married then,” he grinned.

“Right now?!”

“Well, yeah,” he laughed. “You think I’d just randomly propose to you in front of a courthouse? Plus, I know you. This is the perfect date for us and you don’t want somethin’ huge.” He was right.

Carter held out his hand. I took it and he led me into the building.

We walked out about thirty minutes later as Mr. & Mrs. Black.

When we got back in the truck, he looked at me and chuckled.

“What?” I asked.

“I told you I’d take the brightness from you and turn it black.” I realized what he meant and laughed, too.

“How long have you been waiting to say that again?”

“A very long time.” He put the truck in drive.

When we were almost back in town, he took the first exit instead.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Pete’s.”

“I’m tired.” It was true. I was. But mostly, I wanted to go home and fuck the daylights out of my new husband.

“Don’t care. I promised Ty I’d help tonight.”

“Yeah,you.Not me.”

“We’re a two-for-one deal now,” he laughed. I rolled my eyes. “Look, we’ll only be here for a few. We can leave whenever you’re ready.AndI’ll make sure we get extra wings for the baby.”

“Fine,” I conceded just as we pulled into the parking lot. Once parked, he pulled out his phone for a moment, typing away, then got out.

When he helped me out of the truck, I said, “You just wanna show off your new wife.”

“Damn right I do. Have you seen her? She’s sexy as fuck. And that ass.” His hands gripped my ass, squeezing hard. “Mmm. Maybe I’ll take you in that alley and fuck you senseless again.”

“Carter!” I giggled. “You can’t anyway, since Ty put in that new camera.”

“Then he’ll be in for a surprise, won’t he?”

“You’re bad.” I swatted him. He only gave a wink before taking my hand and walking us toward the building. I started for the alleyway, but he tugged me along the opposite way.

“Let’s go in the front.”

“Why?” I asked.

“You always ask so many questions?”

“Yes.”

When we stepped into Pete’s, I noticed the lights were off. I went to ask what the hell was going on when they came back on and the crowd before us cheered, “Surprise!”
