“Jaxon, get out of my house before I call the cops on you.” I scoffed. He went into his pocket, unlocked his phone, went to his keypad, and extended the phone to me.
Yeah, he wasall the waychecked out.
“Here, baby. Go ahead. Cause my intention wasn’t to show my ass, but I can promise you they won’t be making a blank trip.” He waited for a second and then shook the phone in my direction when I didn’t reach for it.
He was talking to me, looking me in the eye like we were the only two people in the room. Like, Taj wasn’t just inches awayfrom us. Never worried if Taj had a weapon, like the man posed no threat to him at all. When I didn’t take the phone, he put it back into his pocket with a chuckle.
“Dismiss your company, KD, tell him that daddy’s home and these weak ass dates he’s been taking you on, done. Tell that nigga you don’t even like tiramisu and red wine while you're at it.” He chuckled, dark and dangerous. When I hesitated for a beat too long, I heard the gun click. He fired a shot in Taj’s direction without even looking. As if he were playing Russian Roulette with that man’s life. I choked back a scream as Taj just narrowly escaped being hit.
“If I have to address that nigga, it won’t be with words, KD.”
“Goodnight, Taj,” I said quickly. Honestly, I knew better than to continue to call his bluff. Seeing Jaxon crash out once was enough for me to last a lifetime. There was definitely some truth to what they said about the quiet ones. Jaxon would never harm me, but Taj was as good as dead had he stood there any longer.
“What else, Mama?” He taunted.
I rolled my eyes, fighting tears of frustration. "The dates are finished. Happy now?"
“Why beautiful?” He kept pushing.
I threw my hands up in frustration, refusing to continue to play his game as the tears fell anyway. “Taj, please just go. I’ll be okay.”
I don’t know if Taj was in shock or what, but he hadn’t said a word during the entire interaction. When he didn’t move, I silently pleaded with him. Slowly, he unlocked the door and twisted the doorknob to leave. Once he had closed the door, I locked it behind him.
Jaxon placed the gun in his waistband and looked at me. Out of frustration, I hit his chest. He didn’t move, just let me take all my anger out on him.
“You got some fucking nerve to come back here making demands after I haven’t heard a word from you in almost five months!” And just that quickly, he had reopened the wound.
“I couldn’t KD. I couldn’t come back, Ma. It was either get ghost or watch them bury you.” He grabbed my arms to stop me from hitting him.
“What? Who’s going to bury me?” I paused and searched for the truth in his eyes.
“KD, I’m putting everybody’s lives on the line now, being in this house. Because I can’t let you think that I don’t love you. I can’t watch you be with another nigga. I've been losing my mind. The elites arranged a marriage for me and told me that I had to let you go. If they find out I’m here, shit will go bad. They could order a blackout.”
The wind was knocked out of me.
“Why would they do that?” I questioned, crying harder.
“For power, for an alliance. Look, just know that I love you.”
“You’re marrying another woman, Jaxon?” I didn’t notice I had disregarded the possibility of death; all I could hear was him say that he was about to marry someone else.
“Hell no. Remy is actually helping me find a way out of the deal.”
“This is too much.” I went to sit on the couch, my head in my hands. He guided me from the couch into his lap, and the mood in the room shifted once more.
“KD, I love you. I only want to marry you. When this shit is over, you’re coming back home. I need you with me. I know they probably have people watching me and you. I gotta go, Ma. I can’t stay long.”
He kissed my exposed shoulder, lifted me from his lap, and stood me on the floor. Then he pulled my hands down from my face, and I looked up at him with tears running down my cheeks. It took everything in me not to ask him to stay. But I couldn’tform the words. Instead, my body told him when he hugged me. In the way that my arms held on to his neck like he would never return if he did leave. And after what he just revealed to me, maybe he wouldn’t.
He let me hold on to him, then he gripped my waist and gently pushed me away. He stared at me, and then his lips crashed into mine. His hand rested on the back of my neck as he told me everything he needed to say in that one kiss. I moaned into his mouth, gripping the strings of the hoodie that he was wearing.
He grabbed me by my butt and picked me up. My lower half was now completely exposed, the dress resting just above my waist. He broke the kiss to suck on my neck, the entire time never losing his stride of ascending the stairs.
Opening my room door, like he was familiar with the place, he kicked it shut and placed me back on the floor.
“Take that dress off,” He demanded as he got undressed. I did as I was told. We were both naked, and the sight of his dick, thick, long, and fully erect, almost made my mouth water.
He walked back over to me, wiped the tears from my eyes, and kissed me again. Then pulled me over to him and lay back on the bed with me straddling him.
