That was not a request she was ever going to deny, even if it meant getting naked on a rock in the middle of the park in full daylight. Rolling to her back next to him, she gripped the waistband of her shorts and pushed down, taking her underwear with them.
By the time she reached her knees, JD was there, relieving her of the material, crawling between her legs with a gaze so hungry she struggled not to close her eyes against it. But she didn’t want to miss it, didn’t want to miss a moment of this pleasure with him.
“Pull your shirt up for me, Lily.”
As he licked his lips in anticipation, she slowly drew the material up her stomach, sliding along her rib cage, pausing just below her breasts. They ached, the nipples hard and begging. She wanted his mouth on them, wanted him inside her, wanted it all.
So did JD. Bracing himself, he leaned over her until their lips brushed. “I’ll take a little more time later,” he promised roughly. His lips met hers, forcing them open, his tongue pushing inside. At the same time, his hand was pushing at her sports bra, bringing her breasts into the light, open to his touch, his gaze. He sat up, his fingers starting a pinch and pull at her nipples that had her eyes rolling back in her head.
“I love your breasts, Lily,” he sighed.
She arched, forcing them harder against his hands.
A soft chuckle left him, and then he was leaning over again, this time bringing his mouth to her breast. She was so ready that the minute he sucked her in, she thought she would explode. He set up a rhythm, sucking hard, pulling at her until the jolt of pleasure shot down to her core, making her squirm.
But he didn’t leave her wanting. One hand was there, his fingers on her clit, circling, circling. The touch drove her wild. She opened her knees and arched up, giving him access, allowing two fingers to slide deep inside her and give her the fullness she needed. Fingers shoving in and out, thumb circling her clit, mouth pulling at her breast, teeth scraping—it all coalesced until she thought she might go insane.
And then she did. Her entire body tightened, tightened, tightened until she couldn’t hold back anymore and everything exploded in a supernova of pleasure.
She had no idea how long she lay there, JD’s fingers petting lightly between her legs, his mouth brushing hers tenderly, but finally she opened her eyes and stared up at him.
“I think that’s better than chocolate croissants,” she whispered, voice hoarse.
JD threw back his head and laughed, the vibrations of his amusement rolling through her oversensitized body like thunder. She curled into him, clamping her knees together to keep his hand at her core. He flattened his palm and rubbed, soothing her even as he continued to chuckle.
Finally, when her legs relaxed, he smiled down at her. “I’m glad I could deliver.”
“Oh, you did.” She closed her eyes again, afraid of getting lost in those eyes, that amusement, though she was very much afraid it was too little, too late. Rolling onto her back, she splayed out on the blanket and stared up at the canopy of trees above. Cleared her throat. “So, did you say something about chocolate?”
And that was how she got two Sunday morning treats: JD and chocolate croissants.
Chapter Twenty-One
He hadn’t had a chance to spoil Lily, and with the planning commission meeting coming up and everything she’d been dealing with at work, he really wanted to spoil her. He didn’t look too closely at the impulse, just went with it. He’d spent his life analyzing every last moment he spent with a woman. Was she becoming too attached? Should he or shouldn’t he do this or that? Would she see that as leading her on?
He didn’t worry about any of that with Lily. Right now he just wanted to be—and he wanted that “being” to be with her.
So he dropped her back at her house midafternoon, told her to take a long, hot bath and put on her “fancy” clothes, and went to the mansion to change into nice slacks and a blue silk button-down. When he returned to pick her up, it was to find Lily in an emerald-green sheath that made his mouth water and black stiletto heels that made her legs look like a million bucks. In fact he’d give a million just to have those legs wrapped around him with those shoes spiking into his back.
“Lily…”
She grinned, that blush highlighting her cheeks again. He didn’t think he’d get tired of seeing that blush for a long, long time.
“Is this fancy enough?”
“Fancy enough?” He couldn’t help the need to adjust himself. “Definitely. But we might end up in bed before I get you out the door.”
Her laugh tightened his gut even further. “Oh no you don’t. You promised me dinner.”
“So dinner first? How about bed after?”
She strolled past him across the porch, her hips swaying seductively. “I guess we’ll just have to see how good dinner is,” she teased.
He gave a mock groan as he followed her down the steps.
After handing her into the car with a flourish, he drove toward Gatlinburg and a nice restaurant he’d heard about from Lincoln. The chef was an old friend of Linc’s from culinary school days, someone who’d taught when his friend was a student, and Linc had urged JD to check it out and meet the owner while he was down here. It never hurt to have contacts within the surrounding communities that were on the same level you wanted to achieve, but JD had no idea if the owner was there tonight. He didn’t care. He simply wanted to treat Lily in a way that would take her mind off everything else going on around her.
The Carousel was situated off the main street running through downtown Gatlinburg. It was a large building surrounded by a man-made lake that sparkled in the moonlight as they descended the pier from the parking lot. They took their time, Lily enjoying the view while JD enjoyed looking at her. The pleasure on her face. The wonder as she discovered something new each time she turned around. Experiencing new things with Lily didn’t allow him to be bored—she found too much wonder in the world around her. And she brought that wonder out in him every single time.
