"Ready," I say, turning in his arms to kiss my fiancé. "Though I should warn you. I'm a pretty good event planner. This might get elaborate."

Ranger twirls around our feet, barking happily. Apparently, he wants a big wedding, too.

"As long as you're walking down the aisle toward me, I don't care if you plan a three-ring circus."

As we hike back down the mountain, hands linked, engagement ring catching the light with every step, I think about the journey that brought us here. The loss that led to love, the broken pieces that fit together to make a whole.

Katie wanted me to live fully, to embrace adventure, to never let fear keep me from what mattered most. Walking down this mountain with Tyler beside me, planning our wedding and our future, I know I'm finally keeping that promise.
