Youcontinued to play on repeat but it was now low so that everyone could hear us tell our vows.
After my dad gave me to Darius, he and I held hands, and as I looked into his eyes, no one or nothing else mattered.
When it was time for me to tell him my vows, I spoke from my heart. I didn’t write anything down, or practice, I spoke from my soul.
“I can’t believe it’s been eight months since we got engaged and today, I’m finally marrying my best friend. When I think back to the night you flew me back to Chicago when my dad was in the hospital, I get emotional. It was on that trip, you let meinto the last part of your life that I hadn’t been a part of, and I knew no matter what it was still and always would be U + Me. As I stand here today, at eight months pregnant with our precious twins, bigger than a tour bus,” I chuckled, causing everyone to laugh with me. “I wouldn’t want it any other way. I promise to continue being everything you need, for the good, bad, ugly, and in between. Always and forever, D.”
I had never seen Darius cry so much in my life, making it hard for me to keep strong. I got to a point where I didn’t care how my makeup looked. Cause again, all I saw was him and I.
Darius
Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. It would be a day that I would never forget. While I watched my dad and Leen having a ball with Karl and Pamela on the dance floor and KK standing to the side smiling, my world was complete. The song switched and KK started dancing with her dad and mine. All of a sudden, she stopped dancing, and when they all looked down, I ran over to see what was going on.
When I ran up to her, I slipped and almost fell on something on the floor.
“I think my water broke.”
Those five words changed my entire life. KK ended up going into labor during our reception and four hours later, our twins were born. Darius McKinley Jr., slid through first, weighing a whole six pounds and sixteen inches long. And baby girl, Kayla Rose, popped out next, weighing five pounds and eleven inches long. They were perfect and everyone being here to witness our wedding and the birth of our babies, made it a perfect ending to the most perfect day.
I walked up to KK’s bedside, while she watched Pamela and Claudia like a hawk as they held the babies. I lined our fingers up together, reverting back to where it all began.
“Told you it’ll always be U + Me.”
I kissed her on the cheek, then went to gather my babies, who now had started crying because they wanted their daddy to hold them.
