As I’m lost to studying him, his vibrant green eyes peek up over the rim of his glasses. Caught me.

“Hey, Reid, you busy?” I ask hesitantly, walking further into his doorway and playing with the drawstrings of my hoodie.

Reid drops the tablet into his lap, pulling the glasses off his face as his eyes trace over every inch of me. I feel the warmth of his stare like a caress, and I’m stunned by the action as heat pools at my core. I’ve never been on the receiving end of a look like this from Reid. As quickly as he takes me in, he shakes his head and meets my eyes like he’s suddenly regained control of his actions and come back to Earth.

“Hey, Kins, need anything?” The deep timbre of his voice only adds to the throbbing currently happening between my legs. How do I even answer his question when I’m so distracted?Well, I’m kind of hot and bothered after you just undressed me with your gorgeous eyes, but I’m not about to ask you to help with that.I’m sure that would go over real well.

“I’m bored out of my mind. Would it bother you if I hung out down here?”

He combs those thick, tattooed fingers through his long hair, pushing it out of his face. I track the moment and nearly moan. Remember when I said I wasn’t interested in him? My brain clearly knows Reid is off-limits and not at all what I need, but my girl parts are screaming “fuck me! Fuck me!”

“I have a client coming in soon, but he’s a regular and he won’t mind if you hang out. You wanna watch?”

My day just got way cooler, if I could pull myself together long enough to stick around and enjoy it.

“Are you kidding? I would freaking love to watch you work. I’ve never actually seen anyone get a tattoo before.”

“You still want one?”

“Are you offering?”

He tsks and shakes his head slowly while running his fingers through his hair again, pushing it out of his face and flipping it off to the side. Jesus, why is that move so devastatingly sexy? I swear I can feel my heartbeat throbbing between my legs when he does that.

“You want me dead, sweetheart?”

Sweetheart.Yep. I’m wet. Lovely. I feel the flash of heat warm my cheeks, and I hope to God he can’t tell.

“Maybe we keep it our secret?” I try.

“Can’t do it. As much as I would be honored to tattoo you, Kins, Sawyer would kill me.”

Aaand I deflate. A bucket of ice water crashes over me and cools me off. Probably for the best. I’d most likely erupt into flames if his hands were on me. Even doing something as professional and innocent as a tattoo.

“It’s fine. Trust me, I get it. I’ve heard it plenty of times before. I’m used to it.” I shrug.

His head cocks to the side as he takes in what I said. “What do you mean?”

I take a seat in the sleek leather loveseat opposite him and pull my knees up to my chest. His eyes track my movement and settle on my feet, squinting slightly as he takes them in.

“You really should have shoes on down here, Kins.”

I look down at my sock-covered feet and wiggle my toes.

“Oops. I’ll remember next time.”

“So? Going to elaborate?”

“C’mon, don’t act like you don’t know. They’re overbearing to the extreme. You’re just like them sometimes. You’re telling me you don’t remember carrying me out of a bar when I tried to leave with some cute guy at the beginning of the year?”

“You mean when you were drunk and trying to give your virginity away to the first bidder?”

My head bops back in surprise. I don’t quite remember it that way, but I guess that is technically what happened. All my brothers had been up north at Mount Baker for their annual trip, and I decided I was done playing by their stupid, outdated rules. All I wanted was some attention. For one night, I didn’t want to be Kinsey Hayes. I wanted to be someone that no one was scared to get close to out of fear of my brothers pummeling their brains all over the sidewalk.

“You wanna get out of here and go have some fun? I want to show you a good time,” Theo says as he leans in close to my ear, his hands all over my hips and waist. The attention feels so good, and this is exactly what I wanted. A night free from my brothers staring down any man who comes within five feet of me. Lucky enough for me, dumb-dumb Cole brought his out-of-town friend to The Night Owl tonight, and he has no idea I have four overbearing brutes for brothers.

Theo grasps my hand as I nod my agreement to leave with him and pulls me away from the bar just as Blaire stands in front of me, causing me to sway on my feet.

“Hey, you. You seem like you’re ready to go home. Want to crash at my place?” she asks me. While she’s incredibly beautiful, I would much rather go somewhere with Theo. Theo seems nice. Theo will happily take away my V-card.
