I shake my head and stretch my legs. “It was wild. I had dinner with Mr. Dreamy and then, for some reason, my gross ex was there. But then we left and...” I waggle my brows. “All night long.”

He laughs. “Sounds like one hell of a dream.”

“It wasincredible.” That word doesn’t fully cover it. Just thinking about it has me smiling wide.

His phone buzzes on the floor, temporarily pulling our attention away. Mine is still in my tiny designer purse downstairs where I left it last night. I can only imagine the text messages I have waiting for me, considering I never updated my friends.

“Ignore it. I want five more minutes just like this.”

“Mm. Do you like to snuggle?”

“With you. You’re warm,” he says, eliminating the remaining space between us. His phone stops vibrating and he lets out a contented sigh. I close my eyes and almost drift off before the buzzing begins again.

This time, I roll over and face him, propping myself up on myelbow. A small, boyish grin touches his lips as he admires me. “I want to remember you like this forever; with a sleepy smile on your gorgeous face, and messy, wavy hair.”

Zane reaches forward and wipes his thumb across my bottom lip, focusing on it before meeting my eyes. “You wake up pretty.”

My heart flutters and I believe I’ve lost my ability to speak because Mr. Dreamy has said the same thing to me before.

“What?” I ask as he places his palm on my cheek and our mouths slide together.

I can’t explain the electricity humming through my veins or the way I am magnetically drawn to him. He tugs and sucks on my lip. Want quickly takes over and I know where this is going. I want it to continue what we started because it all still feels like a dream.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

“You should answer it,” I whisper, knowing I have morning breath. “I’ll brush my teeth and use the bathroom.”

“Okay,” he tells me, and I straddle him to take a shortcut and he digs his fingers into my hips. I’m still naked and his eyes trail over my body in the glow of sunlight. I grind against his hardness through his boxers and want to go for round two after I empty my bladder. But damn, he feels so good.

I gasp, my head falling back on my shoulders as his cock grazes my clit, creating just enough friction to make my heart rate increase.

“Shit,” he whisper-hisses and we almost lose ourselves again.

I place my hands on either side of his head and hover above him. “I’m not going to disappear.”

“I’ve heard that one before,” he says. “But go pee.”

He lets me go and watches me walk to the bathroom door. I’m sore from the inside out and will be feeling the evidence of his presence for days.

I glance at him over my shoulder and smile before I disappear.

Seconds later, he answers the phone and I try to listen to what he’s saying. His tone changes and his voice grows mumbled before the main door to the bedroom clicks. Then I’m alone.

After I wash my hands, I search for my toothbrush and see it sticking out of the golden holder next to his electronic one. I sneak into his closet the size of my loft and look for some clothes.

I find a pair of running shorts and a T-shirt that doesn’t look like it would fit half of him, then I head downstairs. I’m convinced these were his teenage clothes, but I don’t mind.

Zane is pacing the kitchen in jogging pants. My eyes slide down the cascade of muscles on his back and he turns around and spots me. When our eyes meet, I smile and move closer to him.

“I’ll talk to you soon,” he says and ends the call with furrowed brows.

“Everything okay?”

He sets his phone on the counter. “I have to return to New York immediately.”

The free bird he was this morning has vanished. Now he’s back to the man I met in the coffee shop—all business.

“You should come with me.”
