“And is he going to help us?” I asked, keeping my eyes on Kenzi.
“More than likely, yes. I left him with a little incentive.”
I wasn’t sure what incentive Davian left, and I wasn’t about to ask. If he wanted me to know, he would tell me. With Kenzi still looking my way, I continued asking him about his plan. “When is Margot going to be taken to The Regency?”
“As soon as possible. Reyna is making all the arrangements to make a suite compatible for her care. Everything she needs to get better will be available for her.”
Kenzi rose from the couch and gave me one of those ‘what’s going on’ looks. “I’ll fill Kenzi in on our plans.”
I finished the call with Davian and placed my cell in my back pocket as I stepped out from behind the couch and made my way toward Kenzi. She was standing with her arms crossed at her chest and I could tell that she was going to explode if I didn’t explain myself.
Placing my hand on her cheek, I looked down at her and said, “The most important thing to me is keeping you and Margot safe. I don’t want you to get overly concerned, but Van escaped from the police. I, Davian, and the rest ofThe Societymen will make sure nothing happens to either of you.”
I wrapped my arms around Kenzi’s waist and pulled her close. Her head fell to my chest with a long sigh. “Who is going to help, Davian?”
“River.”
~
After the initial shock of River working with us draw out Van and possibly his brother Niles, Kenzi finally understood why it was important for him to help. There really wasn’t any other choice, and using Kenzi as bait wasn’t an option. She took a deep breath and focused more on what I said. Her palms were slick with nervous sweat and she wiped them on her jeans. Sinking her hands into her pockets, she looked up at me. “I want to be at The Regency when my mom is brought there.”
It was understandable for Kenzi to take care of her mom and to be there when she was brought to The Regency. It would take some doing, but I would do everything I could to make sure that happened. “Let me talk to Davian. I’m sure we can figure out a way for you to be with her.”
Kenzi wrapped her arms around my neck and placed her lips on mine. Then she broke our kiss and turned toward the bedroom. “I’m going to take a quick shower and then I will make us something to eat.”
I took hold of her hand before she got too far from me. “How about you take a shower and I’ll fix us something to eat?”
“You’ll get no argument from me,” she replied as she left the living room and headed to the bedroom we shared.
I waited until she was out of sight before I headed downstairs to talk with Patton and West. If I wanted to keep her safe, I would need some help. When I reached the computer room, Davian had already returned from The Ritz. He was just the man I needed to see.
“Kenzi wants to be at The Regency when her mom gets there. I told her I would make that happen, so I’m going to need your help,” I said, making Kenzi’s request known.
“I was just discussing that with the guys. The doctor has agreed to release Margot tomorrow, but only if certain requirements are met. Reyna has been working her tail off to make sure Margot has everything she needs.”
“I think between West and Marcus, we should be able to get Kenzi to the hotel without a hitch, and with the rest of us keeping an eye on the hotel, and with the help of your hotel security, there shouldn’t be any problem keeping both of them safe.”
“I agree,” Davian began. “It would be better to get Kenzi to the hotel before Margot arrives. I suggest we do it as soon as possible.”
“I’ll let Kenzi know. I’m sure she won’t have any problem with it.” I nodded in agreement and headed back upstairs to let Kenzi know about the plan. Dinner would have to wait.
When I opened the door to the bedroom, the scent of strawberries and vanilla filled the room. A smile crossed my face as I headed toward the bathroom to tell Kenzi we would leave for The Regency as soon as she was ready.
As I push the door to the bathroom open, I was hit with the cloud of steam Kenzi’s hot shower had created. I remained in the doorway as I watched her place her hand against the flat surface of the mirror to wipe away the excess moisture the steam from her shower had caused. There wasn’t a trace of make-up on her face, but damn if she wasn’t beautiful. Her eyes met mine in the reflection before she removed the towel wrapped around her head. When her golden locks fell to her shoulders, my only thought was running my hands through them.
“Just give me a minute to dry my hair and I’ll be right out.” She reached for the blow drying lying on the counter and turned it on.
There was no other place I would rather be than watching her. Instead of leaving the bathroom, I walked toward the toilet, pulled down the lid, and took a seat. Her eyes fell to mine, and she turned off the dryer. “Is dinner done already?”
“Not exactly. There’s been a change of plans. Davian wants us to go to The Regency tonight,” I said as I stood up and took the dryer from her hand. “He thought it would be better if you were there when your mom arrives at the hotel tomorrow.”
I was about to turn the dryer on when Kenzi took it from my hand and began wrapping the cord around the base. “We better go then. I just need to put a few things back in my suitcase.”

The suite that Davian had Reyna arrange for Margot’s stay had the highest level of comfort for her. Everything she needed for her care was in place. The suite bedroom where she would recover was equipped with a queen-sized adjustable bed, a bedside table, and various medical equipment to monitor her vitals. A surgical steel stand was positioned next to the bed, which would hold a drip bag filled with a nutrient solution that would be administered via an IV drip throughout the day. Reyna even scheduled 24-hour nursing care for her. The room looked like a high-end hospital room made for royalty. Reyna had gone all out, leaving nothing to chance. There was even an electric recliner near the window, just in case Margot regained her strength enough to read a book.
The other suite bedroom was just as spectacular. A heavy and ornately carved king-sized bed and matching dresser took up most of the large space. As I laid Kenzi’s suitcase on the luggage rack, I noticed the large chandelier that hung from the ceiling, which was surrounded by mirror panels encased in dark wood. I couldn’t help but smile since I would be sharing the king-sized bed with Kenzi. What would take place on the bed heated my insides. As I opened the door to the en suite bathroom, I found it decorated with the same pale, unadorned white wood paneling that covered each wall in the bedroom.
