As I walked to the bathroom, I heard Reyna huff behind me. “Can’t I have thirty more minutes?”
I laughed to myself, but only for what I was about to do. Walking over to Reyna’s side of the bed, I took hold of her hands and pulled her to a sitting position. Then, without giving her any warning, I released her hands, picked her up off the bed fireman style, and carried her to the bathroom. I could hear her giggling against my back, and her laughter warmed my heart. Never would I get enough of this gorgeous woman.
After having a quickie in the shower, an hour later, we managed to get dressed. While Reyna finished getting ready, I sat on the bed working on emails and going over possible replacements for the general manager position at The Regency. There wasn’t a single person who had the qualification Samantha did when I first hired her. I couldn’t go through what happened with Samantha again. The thought of requiring the next potential applicant to take a lie detector test crossed my mind.
When Reyna emerged from the bathroom looking more beautiful than ever, if that was even possible, a thought crossed my mind. I knew finishing college and getting her degree in business was her top priority. And even though I told her she didn’t have to work, what I was about to ask her would be a perfect opportunity for her.
Placing my laptop on the bed beside me, I swung my legs over the side and walked over to Reyna. I brushed my hand along her cheek, lowered my head, and kissed her on the lips. “You look absolutely beautiful.”
Her beautiful brown eyes with magnificent golden specks met mine. “Thank you, Davian.”
Taking her by the hand, I led her over to the bed. “I have something I want to ask you. But before you answer, I want you to really think about your answer.”
“What’s going on, Davian? You’re worrying me.” Her pupils dilated and filled with concern.
“It’s nothing like that. I want you to be my new general manager.” I took her other hand and looked inside her brown eyes to see if I could gauge her answer.

Reyna
I was floored and honored at the same time that Davian wanted me to be his general manager. No wonder he wanted me to really think about his offer. I still had six months of college left before I graduated. But being the general manager of The Regency would be a great opportunity. Not only would it give me everything I have ever wanted, but it would also let me be close to Davian.
I didn’t have to think about what to do at all. As long as I could finish getting my degree, it would be stupid of me not to accept. “Are you sure? I still have six months of college left.”
“I know how important college is to you. My staff will have to work around your schedule. They will just have to understand.” Davian seemed so confident, and since he was the owner of The Regency, how could I refuse?
“I’ll do it. Meet your new general manager.”
Consumed with excitement, I wrapped my arms around Davian and gave him the tightest hug ever. There was a comforting feeling inside that he had faith in me enough to offer me the GM position, but what if I couldn’t handle it? What if I screwed up?
No negative thoughts, Reyna. You survived being kidnapped by Rui Salko and Crosby McCall. How hard could it be?
“When would I have to start? I know nothing about running a hotel.”
“You can start whenever you are ready. I will have the members of my staff show you around so you can get the feel of what you need to know. Before Helen became my secretary, she ran The Regency for me. She will be available to help you out and work with you until you feel comfortable enough to go it alone. I won’t put you in this position blindly. You can do this, Reyna. I wouldn’t have asked you to be my general manager if I thought you couldn’t.”
A knock came at the bedroom door, which broke our embrace. Davian rose from the bed and walked to the door. When he pulled the door open, Kenzi was on the other side. Moving to the side, Davian allowed Kenzi to enter the room. She stopped just inside the doorway and looked my way. “Axe and Stone are ready to take us to pick up Delilah. Are you ready to go?”
I rose to my feet and flattened my hands against my skirt to smooth out the wrinkles. “I am.”
Grabbing my small purse, Davian allowed Kenzi and me to leave the bedroom first. As we headed toward the stairs, Mika, Gwen, and Helga were sitting in the living room waiting for us. As soon as they saw the three of us, they stood and joined us by the stairs.
My day so far had been filled with so much excitement, and it had just begun. Naturally, I was excited to find out what Kenzi had planned for my wedding. Knowing her, she wouldn’t disappoint. I was sure all kinds of ideas were rattling inside her little head, just waiting to be released.
When we hit the bottom of the stairs, Axe and Stone were standing beside a black limo. They were both dressed in black suits, which was a surprise since they mostly wore jeans and t-shirts. I had to admit they looked pretty good.
Davian gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and wished me a good lunch with my mom. I couldn’t help but noticed that Axe did the same to Kenzi before she got inside the limo, only it was for a different reason since he was escorting us to the restaurant where we would be having lunch.
Before Axe closed the door to the limo and got behind the driver's seat, Kenzi began rattling off instructions. “When we get to the restaurant after picking up Delilah, there is a room in the back reserved for us. I have contacted the caterers, the bakery that will make the cake, and the company that will provide the entertainment. After lunch, we have an appointment with the bridal shop to get you fitted with a wedding dress and us and Delilah with wedding attire. I’m assuming you want all of us as bridesmaids. Me, the maid of honor,” she giggled before talking again. “I hope you don’t mind, but I have also invited the florist that will be doing the flowers for the wedding.”
I was about to protest, but I couldn’t get a word in edgewise as Kenzi continued to speak. “Axe and Stone are already working on getting the tuxedos for the men. We already know that Davian wants Patton as his best man and Axe, Calvin, and Marcus as the groomsmen.”
My head was spinning. She talked so fast, and I couldn’t grasp everything she was saying or even that she had taken care of this in less than 24 hours. It was only yesterday that I told her we changed the wedding to October 16th. I couldn’t wait to see what else she had planned. All I was expecting was a small wedding with a few people attending.
As Axe drove up the driveway at my old house, my mom was already at the front door waiting for us. Before my mom got to the limo, Gwen was out the door and running up the sidewalk. I couldn’t interfere with their reunion. This was their moment, and as much as I wanted my mom to myself, I had a sister now to share her with. It was a beautiful sight and a new beginning for all three of us.
