Pressing my hands against the tiled wall while concentrating on the water, the sound of the bathroom door opening caught my attention. I turned my head toward the shower door to find Reyna’s sleepy form. Even with the steam-coated glass, I knew every curve and line of her body. When I pulled the door open, our eyes connected, and there was something in the way she looked at me that made me sense she was unsure of what to do next. I tried to look deeper inside her beautiful brown eyes, and I was unnerved at what I found. There was no question that I loved her with all my heart, but her doubt was as clear as day.
Lowering her head and turning toward the bathroom door, her voice, a declaration of defeat, echoed. “I should go.”
There was no way in hell I could let Reyna leave. “Stop,” I commanded in a stern voice. When she stopped her movement, I barked another command. “Remove your clothes and walk towards me.”
She lowered the thin straps of her nightgown with her back to me. Her gown fell away, revealing the naked glory of her perfect backside and flawless flesh. Submitting to my command, she slid her fingers beneath the material of her lacy panties and slid them down her thighs until they pooled at her ankles.
“Turn around, princess,” I commanded.
When she turned to face me, her head remained lowered. It was heart-wrenching to see the woman I loved in so much pain. Holding out my hand, I spoke softly. “Princess, come here.”
Her head rose, and her eyes met mine. Never had I wanted her more. Somehow, I had to show her that she was my life. The minute she took my hand, I pulled her close and wrapped my arms around her. “You are my everything, Reyna. Don’t ever forget that.”
“I’m scared, Davian.” She lifted her head, and already I could see the tears begin to form.
“I know you are. You have to trust me. I won’t let anything come between us.” It was the truth. When I saw Gwen alive on the computer screen, I felt nothing but anger. I should have felt more—love, gratefulness, hope. None of those emotions entered my mind. What we had was buried with her five years ago.
Reyna placed her hands against my chest and rose to her toes. We weren’t eye to eye, but the only thing that mattered was the space separating my lips from hers. Lowering my head, I traced the softness of her bottom lip with my thumb before pressing my lips to hers. This, us together, was how it should always be. It wasn’t so long ago that I felt the softness of her skin beneath my touch, but already I missed it.
Sliding my hands down her back, along her hips, I rested my palms around her toned ass. Kneading her warm flesh between my fingers, in one motion, I lifted her from the tile floor and held her in mid-air until she wrapped her legs around my waist. It didn’t matter that we were in the shower. I wanted nothing more than to consume every inch of her. Her emotional state was delicate, and as much as it killed me not to plunge deep inside her to satisfy my own need, I had to take things slow with her.
Using the shower wall as leverage, I held her in place with one arm while I used the other to explore her perfect body. A small whimper escaped. “Am I hurting you? Because I can stop.”
“No. Please don’t. I need to feel you.”
“Wrap your arms around my shoulders. It will take some of the pressure off your back.”
When her arms circled my shoulders, her breasts pressed to my chest, like a beacon permitting my hard cock to settle at her entrance. Her soft breath caressed my skin, and the need to be buried deep inside her warmth took over. Holding back the dire urgency to plunge deep inside her, I slowly moved my hips with long gentle thrusts. “I’m going to do my best to take you nice and slow, princess.”
“Don’t hold back on my account. I need this too.”
Tipping her head back, I pressed my lips to hers and eased inside her. As I thrust my hips forward, she pushed against me, pulling me deeper inside her warmth. “God, you feel so good.”
“Can we just stay like this? The way we are right now. Forever?” she whispered, pulling me tighter against her body.
Damn if I didn’t want the same thing. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Reyna
Last night was extraordinary, coupled with the best sleep I had gotten in weeks. I wished I had more nights like that. Davian must have woken up early because when I rolled over to cuddle him, the bed was empty. There were no windows in the room we shared, and other than the lamp that remained on long after we went to bed, there was no way of telling what time it was.
Forcing myself out of bed, I wrapped the comforter around my body and walked to the bedroom door, careful not to trip over the excess comforter that dragged along the floor. When I pulled the door open, not a sound could be heard. I wasn’t sure what I thought I would find on the other side. Maybe the girls chatting in the living room or having their morning coffee in the kitchen.
Closing the door, I walked back to the bed and deposited the comforter before heading to the bathroom. Today was Monday and the first day that students could begin registering for classes. Funny thing, registering for my classes should have been the furthest thing from my mind with everything that had happened yesterday. Instead of worrying about the things I would never be able to control, I needed to focus on the things I could—choosing my classes for the upcoming semester being one of them.
After showering, I slipped on my most comfortable pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I padded barefooted to the kitchen to pour myself a large cup of coffee and grab something to eat. When I entered the kitchen, I was drawn to the digital clock on the microwave. The time read 10:35 a.m., which told me that breakfast was long over. Thankfully the coffee maker was still on, and the pot was still half full of coffee. I guessed I could always pop a slice of bread in the toaster.
Taking my first sip, I watched Kenzi stroll into the kitchen, still half asleep, wearing a pair of yoga pants and a fluffy robe. “Hey,” she yawned as she covered her mouth with her hand.
“You look like crap.” I pointed out as I watched her reach for the coffee pot.
“Thanks a lot.” Yawning once again, she grabbed a cup and poured coffee into it. “I tossed and turned all night. I just couldn’t get over what popped up on my tablet when I was searching for birthday ideas with the girls. I thought the server here was supposed to be secure. It was strange how it just appeared like that.”
“What did you just say?” I wasn’t sure I heard her correctly.
“I said it was strange that the thing with your mom and dad just appeared out of nowhere.”
