~Sixteen~
Every muscle in my body hurt. My arms felt like they were about ready to fall off and my legs felt like I ran ten miles. Trying the best I could to get out of bed, I tried to remember how I got to my room. When I was finally able to make it to the bathroom, the woman staring back at me in the mirror was someone that I didn’t recognize. My make-up was completely off, and my hair looked like a rat had decided to make his home in it.
Lifting my arms as best I could, I pulled my nightgown over my head exposing a body that looked as bad as it felt. My nipples were the darkest shade of red and the marks along my stomach and along my hips were a reminder of my disobedient behavior. Mr. Sakai had warned me that he didn’t accept insolent girls. I should have known that telling him to fuck off wouldn’t be the brightest thing to say.
Splashing cold water on my face, I was happy to find that at least that part of my body didn’t hurt. My aches and pains were beyond anything that I had ever experienced, and it took everything I had to step over the rim of the tub in order to soak in the mixture of salt and bathing oils that Aiko had prepared for me.
Lying back against the tub, I soaked up the heat of the water as it was beginning to work on my body. Looking at the bottle containing the soothing oils, I couldn’t help but think about Aiko and where she was. I felt so bad for getting her involved in my plan. I had no idea that Mr. Sakai would ever find out about what we planned to do. Thinking back over what we discussed, I began to wonder how it was that he found out. It was only Aiko and I in the room and we kept our voices low in case one of Mr. Sakai’s men was on the other side of the door.
I was going crazy trying to figure out how he could have known. There were only two possibilities. One, Aiko must have ratted me out, but that wouldn’t explain why she would have been taken away. Surely, I would have been the one punished before her and taken away instead. The second option was that my room was bugged. It made more sense since I couldn’t imagine Aiko giving me away when she was all for getting out of here.
Looking around the bathroom, I became paranoid and began searching for anything that resembled a microphone. I had watched a lot of crime shows when I was in my teens, enough to know that they were typically hidden in inconspicuous places. Looking up at the lights above the large mirror, there wasn’t anything that indicated that a bug had been placed there.
After scanning the room, I felt pretty safe when I didn’t spot any microphones or bugs, at least none that I could see. Aiko and I never talked about escaping in the bathroom, so it made sense that there weren’t any here. The only other place to check would be the bedroom. It would seem like the most logical place, since that was where I spent most of my time.
Pulling the plug to the drain. I got out of the tub, moving better with little to no pain. I grabbed the towel that I had placed on the vanity and wrapped it around my waist. When I walked out of the bathroom, I was surprised to find that a tray of food was sitting on my bed along with some coffee. It was strange that I didn’t hear anyone come in. Maybe I was too far gone in Thoughtsville to hear anyone enter.
Grabbing a piece of toast from the tray, I began wandering around the room in search of bugs. I began looking in the most obvious places, which included the lamps on the bedside tables as well as the lamp on the desk. Having no luck, I moved to the sconces that were on either side of the door only to find nothing there.
By the time I finished searching the room, I had eaten the entire contents of the tray including the strawberries that were used as garnish on the plate of pancakes. It didn’t make sense that there wouldn’t be at least one bug in the room. More and more, I was beginning to think that maybe Aiko told Mr. Sakai about our plan, but not willingly. The way she was taken away, she had to have been persuaded to tell him and not in a warm fuzzy way.
Moving the tray from the bed to the desk, I walked over to the closet to find something comfortable to wear. Standing inside, I contemplated on wearing a cute sheath dress or a flare dress that also looked to be comfortable. Pulling the sheath dress from the rod, I left the closet only to be spooked by his sudden presence.
“Good choice, Tessa,” Mr. Sakai announced.
“You scared me,” I admitted, placing my hand on my heart, holding the towel I was wearing from falling to the floor.
Without so much as an apology, he walked up to me and said, “Hurry and get dressed. We need to leave in twenty minutes.”
I didn’t dare ask where. I was beginning to learn the way Mr. Sakai wanted his property to act, and one thing I learned long ago was to never to ask questions.

By the time I had finished getting ready, I had five minutes to spare and so I sat on the bed and waited for Mr. Sakai to come for me. When one of his men opened the door, I became concerned that it wasn’t Mr. Sakai standing before me. Standing to my feet, I kept my distance from him as I asked, “Where is Mr. Sakai?”
“Mr. Sakai is working on making the final arrangements for next week. He requested that I come to get you,” he said in his almighty voice like it was supposed to scare me.
Walking past him. I waited for him to lead the way since I had no idea where I was going. He gave me a grin as though to show me that he was in charge, and I followed him down a hallway away from where the elevators were. I hadn’t been to this part of the mansion, which gave me a funny feeling in my stomach. It felt like a ‘something bad was going to happen’ kind of feeling and it was telling me that I shouldn’t follow him. Stopping, I refused to walk any further without knowing where he was taking me.
Waiting until he turned around, I asked him curiously, “Where are we going?”
He began to approach me, but instead of answering my question, he took hold of my arm and began dragging me down the hallway. There was no way in hell that I was going to go with him anywhere. Yanking my arm from his grasp, I managed to get away from him and take off in the other direction. He was much faster than me and soon I was slung over his shoulder being hauled back in the direction I tried to avoid.
Smacking my fists against his back, I yelled and clawed, “Let me go, asshole.”
“If you are going to fight me, my only option is to take you to Mr. Sakai myself,” he said arrogantly.
“Then you should have answered me when I asked you where we were going. Now put me down.”
When he lowered my body from his shoulder, I was ready to take off again, but decided against it since he would have me slung over his shoulder in a second. Staring at him with an annoyed expression, I asked again, “Where are we going?”
Crossing his hands at his chest, he gave off a loud chuckle and said, “No wonder Mr. Sakai likes you. You are quite the spitfire. Now come on or we are going to be late.”
“Ugh…” I grunted, angry and annoyed that he still hadn’t answered my question.
When we reached a set of stairs, I was thankful that at least he wasn’t going to take me to some room where I would be left to stew. As we walked down the stairs, to the main floor, I knew that we were probably headed to the main part of the house where I was first introduced to Mr. Sakai. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, two more men were waiting by the only door to go through. One of the men grabbed hold of the door knob and pushed the door open. I was surprised to find that on the other side of the door was the garage.
As I looked around, the same young man that I had seen before was working on one of the cars at the far end of the garage. One of the men standing by the door yelled, “Gin, pull Mr. Sakai’s Land Rover out.”
