Feeling the need to know who it could have been, I asked, “Who were you talking to?”
It may have been a little sterner than I had wanted based on the way she jumped.
“It was a wrong number,” she confessed.
Having no reason not to believe her, I walked over to her, snuggling her from behind and kissed her lightly on the neck. Her head fell back, and I held her close to my body as I said, “I think you need a break from here. What do you think about going for a little drive?”
Her body shifted, and she turned to face me. “I think that is a wonderful idea. Let me finish getting dressed and then we can go.
Taking a seat on the bed, I watched as she put on a pair of jeans and an off-the-shoulder floral shirt. The way her jeans hugged her body should have been illegal. If I hadn’t already volunteered to take her away from here, I would have suggested we stay so that I could have another round of pleasure with her.
~*~*~*~
I wasn’t sure where I was going, but knew the road leading away from Jonathan’s house had to go somewhere. My intention was to come upon another little town where we would be able to grab a bite to eat and maybe finish our conversation from this morning.
I had been driving for about an hour when we finally came upon a small town. Driving down the main street, I noticed the lack of cars and wondered if this town was deserted. The further I drove, I spotted a few cars here and there and wondered if maybe everything closed down for the weekend. Taking a chance, I turned off the main street and headed down one of the side streets.
I had followed the street for some time and thought it was better if I turned around and headed back to the main street. There had to be some place that Tessa and I could grab a bite to eat. Pulling onto the side of the road, I searched for the nearest restaurant on my GPS and prayed that something would come up that wasn’t too far away.
Getting very close to noon, as we drove further up the road we found there was a connecting town that had several restaurants to choose from. Driving in the direction of the next town, I looked over to Tessa and asked, “Is there anything special that you are hungry for?”
“I’m good with whatever you decide,” she replied.
I wasn’t sure she had even heard what I asked the way her eyes were focused on the side window. Taking a stab in the dark, I said, “There is a great restaurant up ahead that serves a mean worm soup.”
With her eyes still focused out the window, she said, “Sounds good to me.”
Removing my hand from the wheel, I placed it on her leg and said, “You know, if there is something bothering you, I’m all ears.”
Reverting her attention over to me, she looked down to where my hand was resting and placed hers on top. “I know.”
It wasn’t much, but at least I knew she heard what I had said. Focusing my attention on the road, we came upon the small town, I knew that the little café that I thought would be good was just up the street and to the right. Removing my hand, I settled it back on the steering wheel as I pulled into a parking space in front of the small diner. It must have been a popular place based on the customers that I could see inside through the front windows.
Helping Tessa out of the SUV, we walked inside the small diner where we were greeted by a middle-aged woman wearing an apron that looked to be handmade. Smiling at us she asked, “Just two for lunch?”
Nodding my head, I replied, “Yes, ma’am,” to show my respect.
Following behind her, we passed a couple of men who looked like they downed one too many beers. They also look like they just came down from the hills, wearing plaid flannel shirts and bibbed overalls. I guessed this was just the way it was around here. Come to think of it, everyone looked the same, Even the women who were enjoying their meal looked like some of the men.
Taking our seats, Tessa and I looked at one another thinking the same thing. With a chuckle from me and a sweet giggle from her, we both picked up our paper menus, which the diner spent little effort in designing, trying to decide what to eat. Maybe grabbing a bite to eat here wasn’t such a good idea. Choosing something that wouldn’t take a college degree to make, I ordered the club sandwich, while Tessa ordered a cheeseburger. She was a lot gutsier than I was and teamed her burger with fries.
When the waitress came back with our order, I was surprised to see how appetizing it actually looked. Sinking my teeth into the sandwich, the flavor rolled off my tongue and my taste buds were singing with enjoyment. I wasn’t sure what they put on the sandwich, but it was absolutely amazing. Even Tessa was enjoying her burger, her moans of delight bounced off the table after the first bite. It was no wonder that the parking out front was mostly taken.
Stuffing the last bite into my mouth, I was beyond full. The meal was one of the best that I had eaten, and before we left the diner, I left the waitress a sizable tip to give to the cook. I would have handed it to the cook myself, but I couldn’t bring myself to go back to the kitchen in fear of what I might find.
