My brows pull together. “What’s a club bunny?”

He huffs softly, dragging the chair a little closer before sitting down. “They’re girls who hang around the clubhouse. Help out with whatever’s needed—cleanin’, cookin’, errands. Sometimes they... keep the guys company too. Ain’t official members, but they’re part of the scene.”

“Oh.” I shift, not quite sure how to respond.

“Don’t read too much into it, Darlin’,” he adds, his tone firm but not unkind. “They ain’t like you. I only sent her because she knows how to stock a fridge and pick out the right sizes.”

I nod slowly, still processing as he continues, “We can wait here till you’re ready. We’ve got your car locked up in the garage,so hopefully Dylan won’t know you came here. But if he comes looking, everyone will be briefed that you were never here.”

“Honestly, I just wanna take a scalding hot shower and crawl under a mountain of covers and just stay there. So, whenever you are ready, I guess I am.”

Standing up from his chair, he looks me over, that muscle popping in his jaw. “Alright, Darlin’.” He reaches down and lifts me up to his chest and walks us toward the door. “Sin!” he calls, and the door swings open.

“We headed out?” the one called Monk asks while peering around Sin.

“Yea, the cage ready?” Noticing me tensing, he clarifies, “It means an enclosed vehicle like your car, not an actual cage.”

“The prospect pulled the van around to the back to avoid her being spotted,” Monk says.

“Perfect."

Lola

The ride to the cabin is quiet and tense. Pulling up through the woods the cabin emerges in a wide circle of trees. The cabin is beautiful. It looks much more updated than I had expected. I half expected some tiny rundown hunting cabin but I never would have dreamed it would be the gorgeous two-story log cabin with large picture windows that currently sit in front of me. Stallion pulls the van to a stop and hops out.

“Alright, Darlin’ are you ready?” he asks, unbuckling my seatbelt.

“You guys can call me Lola, you know?”

“Okay, now I get it.” He says lifting me out of the van with a knowing smirk on his face.

“Get what?”

“Do you know Lolita?”

“The novel written by that Russian guy?”

“Yeah. You go by Lola which is very similar to the name Lolita. Now I’m not giving Dylan any excuses for what he did to you. That Fucker deserves a fate worse than death. I just can see the similarities that in his tiny useless brain maybe he saw the young impressionable woman being attracted to the much older man. Not that I think you and Reaper have anything going on between you two.” He quickly adds with that stupid smirk again. Sin holds the front door open for Stallion to pass through.

Stopping him with a hand on his arm before he can even cross the threshold, “You can put me down. I need to be able to do this on my own.” He looks like he wants to argue but acquiesces, setting me gently on my feet. While bracing an arm around my waist to take some of my weight, he helps me limp through the door.

“We have made a few minor updates to make Reaper more comfortable when he comes home. I’m sure you will be able to figure most of it out on your own but the master bedroom is upstairs with an adjoined bathroom. Reaper said to make sure you are comfortable and to have you make yourself at home. The master bedroom is probably the better option if you can make it up and down the stairs. Oh, before I forget, where is your cell phone?”

“I didn’t grab it before I left.”

“That’s probably for the best. He may be able to track you using it if you had it.” Reaching into his pocket he pulls out a cheap looking smartphone. “This is a burner phone. My number is the only one programmed into it but don’t get too attached to it, it is temporary. The house has Wi-Fi but I don’t recommend using it to access any accounts in your name including social media. It can be tracked. There are TVs here in the living roomand also in the bedroom, all signed into multiple streaming services. Let me help you up the stairs, I’m sure you just want a shower and to rest.” He wraps an arm back around my waist helping take my weight off my right side. I cling to him as he helps me ascend the rustic staircase.

At the top landing he releases me and guides me forward. “This is the master bedroom and straight through that door is the bathroom. There should be a towel in there and. . .” He crosses the room to the dresser rifling through the clothes. Pulling out what appear to be sweatpants several sizes too large and a shirt that will probably be a dress on me. “You can wear these for now. They are Reaper’s so they will probably be a bit big but you should have some clothes by tonight. I’ll be here until Sin comes back with the supplies and we get you settled. Just shout if you need anything.” He says before vanishing back out the door.

“Thanks.” I whisper, knowing he is long gone and couldn’t possibly hear it. Stripping off my clothes from yesterday, I can finally see the full extent of the damage. Bruises cover my legs, side, upper arms, well pretty much everywhere. I turn on the shower shocked to find it’s one of those rainfall showers where the shower head is attached to the ceiling. Climbing in carefully, I realize how numb I’ve become since this morning. Wait, this morning? I got home midafternoon yesterday. Was I unconscious that whole time? That can’t be healthy. What else did he do while I was unconscious? That insidious thought breaks through the numbness and I suddenly find myself sitting on the shower floor crying while scalding water cascades over me.

I sat there under the spray of the shower till the water went from boiling to freezing before I got out. Pulling on Reaper’s t-shirt, I realized I was correct on the size. The shirt reached nearly to my knees and when I held up the sweatpants I realizedthey were going to be way too long on me and decided against them. I head straight for the bed after leaving the bathroom and run my hand over the comforter. Once again I’m surprised by this place. The comforter is light beige and feels like down. Not at all what I would expect to find in a biker’s home. Shortly after sliding into the most comfortable bed I’ve ever been in, there’s a soft knock at the door.

“Come in.” I call out.

Stallion comes in hauling at least a dozen very large bags. “Sorry, the girls went a little crazy at the store. I told them you didn’t bring any clothes with you and Reaper wanted you to have everything you needed.” He starts unbagging the clothes and putting them away in the dresser. “Ray brought by the groceries and Sin is currently putting them away. So, the kitchen is fully stocked. We didn’t know your food preferences so if there is anything you need that’s not in there just let me know. I was thinking I’d send one of the prospects to pick up dinner. What would you like?”

“I’m not really hungry.”
