Stallion stands there with his arms crossed and shaking his head. “We are staying here, tonight. Right where we belong. You forget we took care of that girl before you got out. We all care about her and we want her to know that and to know she is safe. By the way,” he steps forward clasping the back of my neck. “I am happy for you, Brother.”

“Thank you. You guys know I don’t have enough beds for you all, this is only a two bedroom.” I see the smirk returning to Keyes’ face and I swing my hand toward him, pointing. “Before you say it, no, you are not sleeping upstairs. You open your mouth to say anything of the sort I will not only kick you out of my house but give you the beating you are long overdue for.”

Raising his hands in surrender he says, “I was just gonna say that it’s not like we all haven’t passed out on the floorbefore. Granted that’s normally after a night of drinking but we will make do. She is your old lady now and despite what you think I do not have a death wish.”

“Alright, make yourselves at home. I’m going to check on my girl.” I walk toward the stairs but am stopped by Sin.

“This will never happen again. We will make sure of it.” He pulls me into a hug and I swear that is the longest conversation I’ve had with him in years. Since His old lady was killed while she was pregnant the year I was locked up. He has been kind of terrifying and silent through most of it. I clap him on the back a couple of times and he releases me. I still harbor a lot of guilt from their deaths, it was retaliation due to club business and I will never fully forgive myself for what happened to his family. It turned him into a totally different person. I miss the carefree Sin he was before.

I make it back to our bedroom and she is still fast asleep. Carefully I remove her dirtied clothes and grab a damp cloth and begin the task of washing away all the blood and dirt from her skin.

“Reaper?” her sleepy voice stills my hands.

“I’m sorry, Little Flower. I didn’t mean to wake you. I just didn’t want you to wake up covered in dirt and blood.” The thought that I could have lost her resurfaces and I clench my jaw so hard I’m surprised my teeth don’t crack.

She lifts her hand to my cheek and my eyes lift to hers. “I love you.” she whispers and I close my eyes.

Leaning over her making sure not to hurt her I bring my lips to hers. I’ve never been a gentle man but she is hurting so the kiss is tender and short. “I love you so much, Little Flower.” I pull away and straighten, “I’ll be right back, baby. I’m just gonna get cleaned up.” I stop at the closet and pull out a shirt before turning back to her. “Do you think you can sit up?” She does with a wince that I feel in my chest. Approaching the bedI slip the shirt over her head. “The guys are downstairs. You are safe.” I give her a quick peck on her forehead before turning and heading for the bathroom. Slipping off my cut, I hang it on one of the hooks and notice it has Lola’s blood on it. Grabbing a clean rag I wet it under the faucet and with trembling hands start wiping the blood away.

As I finish cleaning my cut, I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. There is a vulnerability that I don’t think has ever been there, I feel like I could shatter. I take the fastest shower of my life, afraid to be away from her right now.

Exiting the bathroom, I see Lola propped up against the headboard. “Baby, you should be resting.” I walk toward the bed with just a towel tied around my waist.

“I will once you come to bed, Reaper.” I go to the dresser and pull out a pair of boxer briefs and drop the towel before pulling them up.

I walk to my side of the bed and climb in, pulling the blankets up. “Let’s get some sleep, Little Flower.” She shifts down into the bed and winces. “Baby, be careful. You are gonna rip your stitches.”

She continues shifting trying to get comfortable and letting out another wince. “I’m sorry. I’m trying but every little movement tugs on them.”

I turn to face her in concern, “How much pain are you in?” She doesn’t answer but I can see the pain clearly on her face. “Give me a minute.” I say climbing out of bed and heading for the door.

“Where are you going? I thought we were going to sleep?”

“We are, Little Flower. But neither of us are gonna sleep with you hurting. I’ll be right back.”

Stepping onto the landing, I shout “Doc!”

He comes running, “What’s wrong?”

“Please tell me you have meds. She is in too much pain to sleep.”

“Uh . . . no. But there should be some pain meds left over from. . .” he pauses looking for the words but I know what he is trying not to say.

“Do you know where they would be?”

“Nightstand.” Stallion chimes in. “That’s where I put them when Doc brought them. Anything left should still be in there.”

“Thanks.” I say over my shoulder returning to the bedroom. I head straight for her nightstand and sure enough there are a couple orange bottles inside. I sift through them until I find the bottle labeled Hydrocodone. I pop the top just as there is a soft knock at the door. “Yeah,” I call out and Stallion slowly pushes open the door.

“I thought you might need this.” He said holding out a bottle of water. “How you doing, Darlin’?”

“I’ll live.” She says pushing up to take the water with a wince.

I pull out two pills and hold them out to her. “Here, baby. Take these they will help.” She takes them from my hand and pops them in her mouth before taking a large gulp of water.

I turn back to Stallion, “Thanks, Brother.”

“You don’t have to thank me for that. Honestly it was partly selfish. I just needed to see she was okay with my own eyes.”
