“Tyler,” my dad called out for me as he walked inside the office.
The fingers that had been inside Astrid were still inside my mouth, and I quickly removed them.
“Mr. Kane,” Astrid screeched as she tried to get up.
My dad halted as soon as he noticed us. He looked at Astrid and then at me.
“Astrid, you’re here. I was just wondering why Tyler wasn’t answering.”
“Didn’t EZ tell you I was with Astrid?”
“He did not,” my dad said, but I could tell he was amused.
I craned my neck to look at Astrid, and I could see why. Not only was she blushing, but her lips definitely looked like they had been kissed. I wrapped my other hand across Astrid’s waist and burrowed my head in her hair.
“You’re giving us away, beautiful,” I whispered so only she could hear. Then I looked at my dad. “What happened? I finished the detailing on the SUV. It’s ready for pickup.”
“That’s good. I was going to ask if you could follow me to give ol’ Benji a tow. He fell into a ditch.”
“Oh gosh, is he okay?” Astrid asked immediately.
My dad shrugged and sighed.
Benji was a seventy-two-year-old man who should not be driving anymore, but not only was he stubborn as hell, but he also liked going on benders. No one had done anything about it yet because he was an old man that everyone liked. He wasn’t mean or bitter; he was just careless. His family rarely checked up on him, and the most damage he had done was crash into Rachel. Luckily, she walked away with a sprain. No one wanted to be the one to report Benji and take away the last bit of freedom he had left, but he was not only a danger to himself but to others.
“Yeah, luckily, nothing happened. They don’t make cars like they used to. Benji is lucky his Ford is sturdy.”
“Let me just walk Astrid to her car, and I’ll go with,” I told my dad.
When he left, Astrid put her face in both her hands, and mumbled, “Oh my God,” over and over.
“You’re cute when you’re flustered,” I said as I kissed the side of her head.
Astrid did not find me amusing. She glared at me and scowled. “Ty.”
All I could do was smile at her.
She turned around but didn’t remove my hands from her waist.
“Why are you not freaking out? Your dad basically walked in on us!”
I got us up in one fluid movement then turned her around so she could face me. Her eyes were a bit wild with worry. I had to bite my lip not to laugh and offend her. Instead of giving her words, I kissed her before she said anything else.
“Why would I freak out for getting what I always wanted?”
She seemed to melt at my words, and her body lost some of the tension she was carrying. I kissed her again because she wasn’t telling me not to. I know I did a lot of talking, and we weren’t clear of where to go, but it gave me hope. She was allowing me this, and I was ready to take more—take everything.
“Come on. I’ll walk you to your car,” I told her, and she nodded.
“Asshole,” Astrid said to EZ. As we passed him by, he just laughed.
Once she was by her car, I opened the door for her. “I’ll see you later,” I told her. “Leave your window open.”
“We’re not having sex in my room,” she told me, and I chuckled.
“Beautiful,” I said, and her eyes instantly softened. “I’d be happy if you just let me hold you.”
