Going inside, I put Nova on her feet, and Caleb and I help pull off her layers of clothing. Walking into her bedroom, I watch as she pushes off her pants and pulls off her long sleeved shirt. The tinkle of glass has me lurching toward her and I grab her hands as they push her shirt over her head.

“Close your eyes,” I murmur. “There’s glass that is falling out of your hair. Let me get it.”

Caleb walks over worriedly, and together we shake her hair out into her shirt before I gather the material to remove it from her.

“There,” I sigh, walking out of the room to shake the shirt over the trash can.

By the time I return, she’s wearing Tyde’s sweatshirt and curled up in Caleb’s arms sleeping.

“You were slow,” he teases me, moving over with her to give me space.

Rolling my eyes, I toe off my boots and pull my jeans off to offer myself some relief in my boxers. Sighing, I toss them and my pants into a chair and climb into bed beside Nova. She’s officially sandwiched between us.

Yawning because I had to get up so early, I wrap my arm around her waist. I typically don’t stop moving so I won’t crashon mornings that I bake. Burying my nose in her throat, I start to fall asleep quickly to both her scent and Tyde’s.

“Why does he have to smell so good?” Caleb mutters.

“It sucks, doesn’t it?” I chuckle. “I have a feeling that he wouldn’t mind if we hit on him.”

“Interesting concept,” he says. “Let’s make sure our omega is happy and knows she’s adored before we go adding more to things.”

“Bet,” I grunt, allowing myself to slip off to sleep.

Chapter Twenty

TYDE

I may have slipped one of Nova’s keys off her key ring before I left early this morning, and I’m grateful as I sit in front of the gate at Pack Ledger’s property that it easily swings open.

What I’m not expecting is for Hollis to be waiting for me as I ease up the driveway. Looking at her, I can see some of the same features as Nova, but it’s clear that they aren’t identical twins. Though, if my omega’s kidnappers had kept her in Minnesota, I have no doubts that her sister would have found her sooner.

Hollis isn’t a quitter, and listening to her recently on the phone has shown me how fucking scary she is.

She’s waiting with two of her alphas, and I stop my car beside them since she clearly wants to talk. Pushing down the button on my window, I watch as she takes in my car. It’s not an SUV, but a more flashy vehicle that I drive because I enjoy fast cars. I have to admit though that it’s not the best for snowy weather.

“You drive a douchy car,” she mutters, crossing her arms over her chest.

“You’re out here with broken bones,” I grunt, shifting in my seat. “Can I help you with something, or can I keep driving so that I can drop face first into?—”

One of her alphas coughs loudly and I roll my eyes. Jesus, I wasn’t going to say what he’s thinking, even if I’m not safe to be around people most days.

“Nova’s bed,” I finish, rubbing my face tiredly. “I’m exhausted, Hollis. These doubles fucking suck.”

“Does that mean you get extra days off?” she asks mildly, as if she doesn’t give a shit. Maybe she doesn’t.

“No,” I grunt. “I’m scheduled all week and into the next on doubles. I’m unsurprised though because taking the week off pissed off the hospital scheduler.”

Her lips purse for a moment and the alpha who coughed with the closely shaven dark hair groans. “Hollis.”

“Well, that’s not fair,” she grumbles. “He was with Nova during her heat and we were having a family emergency. I just want to sneak in and talk to this scheduler that’s fucking up my baby sister’s alpha’s life.”

I think my brain just broke, and I’m sure I look constipated as I gaze at her confused.

“You’re a lot more confrontational now,” the other alpha next to her with the red hair grunts. “The gloves are off, huh?”

“Maybe a little,” Hollis grumbles. “Maybe I need some time in Nova’s rage room.”

“Pardon me?” I ask.
