I almost feel loopy, and not at all with it. It’s as if I’m losing time. Is this disassociation?
Forcing myself to look down at the open carton in his hands, I gaze back up at him in confusion.
“I baked all of that this morning,” Lars says, finding the kettle and filling it with water. I have an electric kettle as well, but can’t bring myself to say anything. “It’s all gluten free, and I baked it before anything else with clean counters, Nova. I don’t know how sensitive to gluten you are, but it should be safe.”
“You baked for me?” I whisper, feeling a wave of emotion crash over me. God, I’m such a mess today.
“I did,” he says simply, going through the motions of making tea. His brow raises when he finds my loose leaf tea, and I simply stare at my kettle as it sits on the burner heating.
“That was nice of you,” I breathe, looking back at the selection of pastries. Deciding on a muffin, I take a bite and find that it’s actually good.
Gluten free pastries can really be hit or miss. Caleb sets the box aside, watching as my body begins to relax as I chew. I can’t remember if I ate last night or not. I got wrapped up in Tyde’s arms and forgot about everything else.
“What are you thinking about?” Lars growls, breathing in deeply.
Shit, I’m perfuming over a muffin and the memory of the sex Tyde and I had. My cheeks heat, and Lars chuckles in that annoying sexy way alphas have. I’ve noticed that he and his brother don’t laugh often, but maybe that’s why it always affects me so much when they do.
“Ahh.” I have no idea what I’m going to say to dig myself out of this.
“Tyde spent the night, right?” Caleb asks teasingly.
“He did,” I allow, taking another bite to keep my mouth busy.
I kept you busy last night, didn’t I, Little Queen?
This is the worst time for him to be in my head. While we did sleep, he woke me up, and gave me three orgasms too.
You are literally the worst, Dr. Stewart.
His warm laughter makes me shiver, and Caleb and Lars lean in as if they smell blood in the water.
“Did he play your body like a fiddle?” Lars asks. “I bet you screamed really hard for him.”
I choke on my muffin as it goes down, swallowing hard.
“Is that how you choked on his cock?” Caleb asks, smiling wickedly. “Do you need to practice more?”
“I hate you both,” I lie, watching as Caleb gets me a glass of water and places it in front of me.
“Good. We’re going to use that today,” he says. “After you eat.”
The kettle chooses this time to happily squeal its announcement that the water is done, and Lars places the different containers of loose tea in front of me. While I’ll drink coffee in a pinch, there’s something about a good cup of tea that hits the spot for me.
My finger hovers over my choice, and Lars continues to work as I finish my muffin. It’s not until my hands are wrapped around my cup that Caleb begins to speak.
“Tyde mentioned that you may have some unresolved feelings about the house you grew up in,” he says, and my brow raises as a hysterical giggle escapes my lips.
“You might say that’s true,” I rasp.
“What do you think about working out some of those feelings by breaking shit?” he asks. “Screaming is not required unless you need it.”
The words remind me of something that Tyde once told me and I realize there are similarities between the three alphas that fate chose for me. They just express things very differently.
Taking a careful sip of my tea, I moan in appreciation. It’s exactly how I like it and I have no idea as to how Lars managed that. I don’t think I’ve ever had tea in front of him. Lars tidies up around the kitchen, and I realize that he likes things in a certain way.
Which means that he memorized where I put things. Interesting.
“How do you suppose I do that?” I ask.
