“Did he,” she growls under her breath. “Please tell me that he didn’t make this out to be your fault. I also haven’t heard a question yet, Nova.”

The two of us are far enough ahead that the guys can’t hear us, so I blow out a breath.

“No, he’s been pretty adamant about none of this being my fault,” I say.

“Nova?” Tyde jogs to catch up to us, looking confused when Hollis turns her frigid gaze on him.

“I think you need to be looped into this conversation, Tyde,” she says. “I understand that you have a theory about Nova’s body rejecting your bond bite?”

“Yes, but I have a feeling you’re feeling some kind of way about it,” he says. “Nova has developed a lot of coping mechanisms that have been working to help her handle intense situations. The trauma of her past has left her vulnerable and mistrusting of alphas, Hollis. I mentioned seeing a therapist that I found, but wanted to know if you’ve heard anything about her. The last thing I want to do is put my trust into a medical professional who’s an ethical dirtbag.”

“Good answer,” Hollis breathes, stretching her neck muscles to release some pressure. I have a feeling my sister is spoiling for a fight, but she’s self aware enough to know when to chill out. “What’s the therapist’s name?”

“Dr. Alys Edwards,” Tyde replies.

“Ohher,” she says. “I’ve heard really good things about the way she processes trauma with her clients. She works with Omega’s Haven and also has a private practice. As a therapist overall and for omegas, I think she’s a good choice.”

“Oh good,” Tyde says. “It’s completely up to Nova. I get a little fixated when I’m presented with something and it’s important to me.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that,” she says. “In fact…Felix?”

Hollis twists around to find the alpha, and he lengthens his steps to catch up to us.

“What’s up?” he asks. “Why do things feel intense here?”

“I misunderstood something, but I’m fine now,” Hollis explains.

“Good,” he says. “Your brain feels busy for some reason. What are you thinking about?”

Hollis glances at me as if to ask me if she can tell him about our conversation, to which I nod easily. Her pack knows that I have panic attacks. Malcolm has seen them.

“That’s a little freaky,” Felix mutters as Hollis looks back at him. “It’s like how I talk to Remy without words. I’ve just never actually seen it with other people.”

Hollis smirks, saying, “I suppose it’s a sibling thing. Nova and her pack finally have the opportunity to spend more time together, which is great, but?—”

“Life gets in the way at times?” Felix asks, finishing her thought. “I get that. It’s why we have a cabin, so we can tell the world to get fucked while fucking.”

I can’t help the giggle that comes out, and he just grins unrepentantly at me.

“Do you need to get away for the weekend? I can make sure the cabin is ready for you,” he says. “There’s plenty of space there, and you can get calls if you’re worried about your clients, Nova.”

“No one is set to give birth,” I muse. “I should be able to take off and unplug a bit.”

“The chief of staff is currently scared that Dr. Royal or I will sue the hospital, which means I am also free,” Tyde says.

Caleb and Lars catch up to us, brows raised as they catch the end of Tyde’s sentence.

“Are we going somewhere?” Caleb asks.

“Pack Ledger just offered us their cabin,” I explain.

“That’s nice,” Lars says slowly. “I guess I’m promoting someone to manager to see if she can manage for the weekend.”

They’re very nonchalant for being kidnapped, and I say as much as we split off toward our vehicles.

“You can kidnap me whenever you’d like,” Caleb purrs. “I may be into role reversal.”

Tyde snorts under his breath, and I begin to get excited. This will be fun, right?
