“You will not,” Adrick warned.

“We didn’t start datin’ right away. I had to woo my man for a while.” Saint leaned over and kissed Gun’s flaming cheek.

“Let’s get on with the interviews,” Gun demanded.

“I would like to hear the whole story. It sounds thrilling.” I smiled.

Gun stood and went to the door. Opening it, he called in our first interview.

Hours later, we had been through twenty applicants from Polished, who were interested in a position, and all seemed promising. With one more to go, it seemed not only would Polished need to take on new employees, but the Playhouse would too. We’d need as many as we could to make sure we had enough dancers for shift changes and such. Then there were employees just for waitressing.

Apparently Quake loved the idea of his next pub in a strip club, which was wonderful since he’d oversee that area, and we wouldn’t have to worry about bar staff when opening.

“Carnal, tell Pixie to come in when you go out,” Saint said.

“You got it, boss.” Carnal wanted a position, but he also wished to stay working at Polished P & P.

Carnal exited, and moments later, Pixie walked in with a blush to his cheeks. He scuttled over to the seat opposite us and stared at the carpet. I loved that he was interested in working for us, but would it be in replacement of here or added on top of his hours like Carnal?

“Bonjour, Sawyer. Thank you for coming in today. You’re interested in a position at Polished Playhouse?”

He nodded, clasping his hands together on his lap, knee bouncing. His nerves were high, but the timid boy lifted his gaze to meet mine. “Yes, please.” He looked at no one else but me. I was happy to be his sole focus if it helped him.

“Very good. Are you wanting a full-time position or part-time and continue here too?”

When he opened his mouth to answer, Adrick’s phone rang. He pulled it out and answered. “Moya lyubov’, is everything well?” Adrick paused and grinned when West said something that sounded loud and irritated. “Da, I told Dimitri to look after you. It is not my fault Rule got too close for Dimitri to tackle him to the ground.” West yelled again. “Maybe Rule should not have given you a drink. It could have been poisoned.… I am not paranoid. I take care of what is mine, and you are mine, moya lyubov’.” His jaw clenched and then he sighed. “Da, I will allow Dimitri to sit up the front of the building and not in the room with you. I’m sure Rule will now know not to get too close.” He pulled the phone away and glared down at it. “He hung up on me.”

Saint snorted.

Gun sighed.

And I grinned. West totally had Adrick under the thumb like I did Blaze.

Glancing over to Sawyer, I caught his small smile before he bit the back of his finger. He seemed more relaxed now, which was good.

“Adrick, you’ve been around the club for years. Don’t you think you can trust all the members around West now?” Gun asked.

“Nyet. West is very good-looking. Men pass him on the streets and want him. I see it in their eyes. Rule is single. I do not like single men or women working around West. I have told this to Death, but he does not listen.”

Death was like most of the men in the club, who didn’t like being told what to do by anyone other than their partner.

“Sawyer, sorry for the interruption.” I smiled. “Are you looking for a full-time, part-time, or temp position?”

He shifted on his seat, looked up, away, and back to me. “I’d prefer a full-time position if possible.”

“Do you have rhythm, Sawyer?” Saint asked.

He nodded, shrugged, and said, “I think so?”

It sounded more like a question. He had probably never even tried pole dancing or lap dancing before.

“That’s fine. There’ll be trainin’,” Gun explained.

Sawyer nodded.

“We’re still a way off yet. But for now, we need to work out who will be joining the Playhouse team and if Polished P & P will have to hire replacements,” I told him. “We’ll mark you down for a full-time spot and let you know when we’re closer to opening the Playhouse. We will also inform you of the training coming up.”

“Thank you.”
