Brick often texted me throughout the day and even called once or twice when he had some chill time. He talked about his brothers a lot, and I’d yet to meet either of them. The nigga wasacting like he was really my boyfriend sharing things about his childhood and family.
“Sup, Sol.” His deep tone trilled through the line.
“Hey, Cambrie just ran out of here. I guess there was some kind of incident with her daddy at his new facility. I told her I would call you so you didn’t think she was on no bullshit.”
There was a pause on his side before he spoke again.
“Do me a favor. Come sit with the kids for me. I just want to make sure she’s good.” I didn’t even know him, but there was genuine concern in his tone.
“I’ll be there in ten minutes,” Sol simpered and glanced my way before hanging up.
“What was that about?”
“He likes her, and Staten don’t like nobody. I’m going to jet. You good?”
Stomach bubbling and nerves rattled, I peered at myself in the mirror and nodded.
“Yeah.”
“Okay. You know everybody will be watching. Don’t trip off that though. What people like about you is how raw and real you are, so don’t stray from that,” Sol advised.
“Thanks.” I smiled at her through the mirror, and she tucked her phone into the pocket of her blazer.
“And have some fucking fun! Brick is a good time if nothing else!”
Brick
“Purple? Really?” Six narrowed both fierce ass, sienna-tinted orbs while sauntering her sexy ass toward me.
I hit her up and told her I was in the parking lot so she could come down. I didn’t want everybody up in our business around here anyway. I was sure there would be gossip, but I wasn’t about to give them anything else. Pushing myself off the back of by black, two-door Maybach, I grinned, taking in her curves with each step. She looked fucking good. With the way she did her makeup, you couldn’t tell she was hiding bruises. Her long frontal hung in tight wand curls, giving her a soft look in the purple halter dress that hugged her like a long-distance auntie.
“I told Sol to let me know which dress you chose. I thought it would be dope if we just happened to be wearing the same colors.”
She paused a couple of steps in front of me, eyes drifting over me from head to toe with both hands in front of her gripping her little mini purse. Six looked at me like I was under a microscope. I sensed her intrigue behind what she was trying to disguise as contempt.
“I guess I can’t be mad at your attention to detail.”
“Nah, now let’s go live real quick with me picking you up, opening doors and shit, and then just a few minutes in the car to the spot.”
She reached out to tease some of her hair and pout her lips when I lifted the phone to get a full front view of her beside my ride.
“Yo, it’s date night, in case anybody was wondering. GirlSix out here showing the fuck out. Roll with us tonight. We outside.” I reached to open her door for her after she blew a kiss into the camera and kicked her leg up.
Once she was settled inside, I rounded the back of my whip to join her in the driver’s seat.
“Snap a quick selfie with me,” I suggested, leaning closer to her after setting the phone in the dash holder.
I wanted the viewers to be able to see while we cruised to our destination. We snapped like three dope ass pics before I went to my page and hit the button to start the feed.
“So what’s your idea of a date?” Six questioned when I pulled out from in front of the lodge and maneuvered my shit down the road toward the main street.
“Some dinner, champagne on ice, a little conversation in a nice atmosphere. If you want to turn up, I got VIP status in every club in the city. I don’t think that’s a good scene for dating somebody though, or wanting to get to know them.”
“I didn’t think men these days were interested in getting to know a woman outside of smashing.”
“See, I don’t know where women get that shit from.” I sucked my teeth and continued to cruise along, taking a road that led to the highway so that we could head into the west side of the city.
“From dog ass niggas that like to fuck everything not nailed down,” she answered, cutting her eyes at me.
