“I’m tracking her location, and it says she’s here.”
“I haven’t seen her. I was just about to go upstairs. I left Kiadra up there sleep, and if she wakes up and sees me gone, she’s going to have a full-blown panic attack.” She laughed and turned toward the stairs.
“Don’t fucking lie to me. Where is she?” Snatching her back by her wrist, I towered over her and grit my teeth.
“Ow, Brick, you’re hurting me.” She winced from my grip pinching into her skin.
“What the hell, Brick, let her go!” Sol rushed from behind the counter. “What is wrong with you?”
“You seen Six?”
“No, I haven’t. I had to run out and grab some supplies, and I just got back about five minutes ago. What is going on? Is this about that video tonight?” My aunt looked me up and down and I let go of Kiara but continued to grill the fuck out of her.
“She came back here. She saying she ain’t seen her, but I think she lying,” I growled, aiming an accusing finger at Kiara.
“Why would she do that?” Sol questioned, positioning herself between us.
“I don’t know. Ask her!” I waved a hand at Kiara’s shady ass.
I knew she’d been hanging with Six lately, but I ain’t trust that shit. This bitch smiled in my face and flirted every chance she got. Hoes like her couldn’t be trusted because they would play both sides. She was the type to be in my face then turn around and tell Six I was jocking her.
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I did see Bella’s husband go live though,” Kiara simpered smugly. “Did Six get her feelings hurt and leave yo’ ass?”
“Bitch—” With a balled fist, I lunged for her, but she cowered.
Sol stepped up, pressing her hands against my chest to keep me from laying hands on her.
“Sounds like Six just came to her senses. Probably hit somebody up from her old life to come get her.” Kiara shrugged. “Good luck finding her though.”
“Brick, I saw that shit too. You was really fucking that man’s wife?”
“Man, fuck her and him. I wasn’t the one married.” A tight grimace molded into my face.
“It still doesn’t make it right,” Sol responded, shaking her head.
Sucking my teeth, I threw a hand up and brushed that shit off. Nobody was about to make me feel bad about that. Bella was the one who made vows to keep. Wasn’t my fault she was a hoe that her man turned into a housewife. The only thing I hated was how the shit affected Six. I needed to make this right.
“Whatever. If you hear from her, hit me up.” I turned to go back outside.
The doors slid open, and I walked right through them, stopping at the entrance to collect myself. Something on the ground caught my eye. Behind a large plant holder was the clutch that Six carried tonight with her dress. Beside it her cell phone was smashed and a trail of what looked like blood stained the sidewalk.
“The fuck?” I picked up her things and skimmed my surroundings.
A set of tire tracks were nearby leading to the turnoff, and the blood trail stopped there. Blood running cold as ice, I fished my cell phone out of my pocket and hit up Moniece. She ran all our security shit everywhere on every single Marek property.
“What’s good, cuz?” she greeted me, sounding out of breath and cutting the music down in the background.
“I need you to pull the footage outside Guardian Lodge from tonight. I want to know everybody that came and went from this muhfucka and if you see anything suspicious.”
“Okay. I’m in the gym, give me a second to get upstairs to my office and I’ll hit you back.”
The line disconnected, and I paced with Six’s clutch in my hand and shot a text to my brothers letting them know I needed them. I wasn’t sure what this was, but every instinct I hadscreamed some shit was foul and that Six needed me. When Moniece text me, I tapped at the screen and pulled up the video she sent me.
Niece: Didn’t have to look too hard. Looks like there was an altercation. She added a comment.
I watched Kiara greet some big burrito eating looking ass nigga outside. The two spoke for a minute, and he slipped her some cash then pulled off. When Six pulled up in her Uber she went inside briefly and talked to Kiara before this other nigga walked in. It was obvious from her rigid posture and the way her eyes sparked with fear that she not only knew this muhfucka, but she was scared. He seemed calm, nodding for her to follow him outside. The two of them had words for a minute before he had his hands on her. Watching him snatch her by her hair and slam her face into a nearby pillar had me seeing red. Six’s nose dripped with blood as he dragged her toward where I’d spotted her clutch. I quickly shot a message to Moniece.
Me: I need those plates off that truck ASAP!
