That’s not fair, but I do want to know where we are headed. “I like to be scared, or at least in my head I think I like to be scared. I’ve never really been scared. Well, I guess I have, but that was scared scared. Not like fun scared.” I stop abruptly, knowing I have just made a fool of myself.

“We’re going to a kinky Airbnb,” he says abruptly, interrupting my racing thoughts.

“Ahh, what is that?” I mean I know what kinky means, but yet I don’t.

“An Airbnb that provides the tools to explore your kinks. A place to be alone.”

He didn’t make fun of me for asking, he just answered my question. Suddenly, I begin to experience all of the emotions simultaneously.

Fear begins to rise above them all. I’m scared to face myself. My desires have only ever existed in my imagination or my art. I’ve never experienced them in reality. What if it’s too much for me … or worse, what if it’s not enough?

Brody pulls off the side of the road, stopping the car. “Hey.” His hand slides along my neck. “If you don’t want to play while we’re there, we can still enjoy it as a regular rental. There is nopressure, Daisy. I just thought you might want to explore …” He stops and shakes his head. “We can go somewhere else.”

“No,” I say quickly. A little too quickly.

His eyes narrow at my interest. “Before we do anything, we will discuss it first.”

My gaze bounces over his face. A feeling of safety washes over me. It’s the same one I had when I decided to give him my virginity. He didn’t fail me then. I have confidence he can walk me through this, too. He’s my dark angel. “Okay. Let’s go.”

He pats my cheek. “The reviews raved over the softness of the bed, so I hope you get some good sleep. This isn’t just about learning things about yourself, it’s about resting too. I’ve booked it for a couple of weeks, but we can stay longer or shorter. No worries.”

“You’re always so patient with me. I like that,” I admit softly.

The kiss he places on my forehead brings a lump to my throat. He leans back into his seat before pulling onto the road.

I take a deep breath and release it slowly.

By the time we arrive, I’m about to jump out of my skin. He tugs me out of the truck and into his arms. “Before we go inside, I need for you to be honest with me. Are you okay with staying here?”

“Yes,” I mumble into his chest. “I’ve told myself there is something wrong with me for so long I’m having a hard time changing the narrative.”

“Thank you for explaining. That makes me feel a little better. I don’t want you to feel forced into staying here.”

“I never thought I’d find someone I could trust to do something like this with.”

“Oh, believe me when I say I understand that. I’d all but given up.”

I lift my head. “You’ve been wanting something like this?”

“I have.”

“Do you have experience?”

“Some, but those were just scenes, strictly for fun. I’ve never had a committed relationship.”

“Is that what this is?” My heart stops beating, waiting for his response.

“I’m not sure, but I know that it’s more than I’ve ever had with anyone else.”

“Me too.”

“You ready to go inside?”

I nod, letting him pull me to the porch. “It’s beautiful here. I’m happy to get more time in the mountains.”

We step inside, and our jaws drop.

“Wow, this is cooler than the pictures,” he says, pulling us through the cabin.
