Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision, but I didn’t care. The answer was easy, it was an unequivocalyes. I nodded, unable to speak, my heart overflowing.

“I kinda need an answer here, Firefly,” he said looking at me.

“Yes,” I finally managed.

He slid the ring onto my finger, a perfect fit, and then he was on his feet, pulling me into his arms, crushing me against him.

“A thousand times, yes, Colton.” I whispered against his shoulder.

We stood there for a long time, everything around us faded away. When we finally pulled apart, our eyes, red-rimmed from happy tears, met. The unspoken desire was palpable.

“I love you so much, Ember. So fucking much.” There was so much conviction in his words.

“I know you do, Colton. I love you too, always,” I told him, looking into his eyes.

He kissed me deeply, a promise in the press of his lips. “Come on, sweetheart,” he murmured against my mouth, his voice husky. “Let’s take this up to my house.”

I nodded, my heart pounding with a new kind of anticipation. He took my hand, and we walked back up the snowy path, leaving the fairy lights and rose petals behind.

He released my hand only to take our coats and boots off, then without saying a word he led me through the living room, and down the hallway to his bedroom. I hadn’t been in Colton’s room since we were kids. Looking around I could see nothing had changed.

The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from the bedside lamp. It was a simple space, masculine and uncluttered. A thick comforterwas pulled back on his bed, inviting and soft.

He led me to the edge of the bed, and we sat down, wrapped in each other’s arms. This time, there was no frantic urgency, no desperate rush. This time was tender and slow.

“I told you, that night over the summer, I’d make it up to you,” Colton whispered, his voice hoarse with emotion, as his fingers gently traced the curve of my jaw. “I promised you a night that would be special. More than special.”

I pressed a soft kiss to his lips. “You’ve given me plenty of special nights since then, Colton. More than I could have ever dreamed.”

His eyes searched mine. “Still, that first time in my truck, it wasn’t ideal. You deserve so much more, Firefly.”

“It was perfect. Because it was with you,” I said softly, running my hand over his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath my palm. “You are incredible, Colton Wyatt James.”

“Only for you,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “Everything we went through, the years apart, the hurt, the pain, it was all worth it because it led us right here. Together.” His hands then traced the curves of my body, his lips ghosted kisses against my neck.

He moved above me, his weight supported by his elbows, his gaze never leaving mine. His fingers, warm and calloused, began to trace the delicate line of my collarbone, then drifted lower, over the swell of my breast, before settling on my nipple. He teased it gently, his thumb circling, and a soft sigh escaped my lips as Colton pulled my shirt up, then tugged my bra cup down. My breast popped free, and he immediately took my nipple into his mouth. A gasp escaped me as he began to suck, tease, and gently bite, sending shivers down my spine.

“You’re sobeautiful, Ember,” he breathed, his voice a low, husky rumble. He brought his head to look down at me, then leaned down, taking my mouth in a slow, deep kiss. As our kiss deepened, his hand drifted lower, over my stomach, then between my legs, finding my panties soaked.

My hips instinctively bucked, “Colton,” I whispered against his lips, my fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer. “I need you. So bad.”

“I know, Firefly,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “Me too.” He dipped one finger inside me, a slow, deliberate invasion that had me gasping. He moved slowly at first, then with more confidence he added a second finger, exploring my readiness. “So wet for me,” he breathed.

I shivered, a delicious tremor running through me. “Only for you,” I confessed, my voice barely audible.

He pulled back just enough to look into my eyes, his eyes blazing with desire. “Are you ready, Firefly?”

I nodded, unable to speak, my body ached for him.

After he stripped us of our clothes, tossing them carelessly onto the floor, he positioned himself, his tip pressing against my entrance. I felt the familiar stretch, the exquisite fullness as he began to push inside. A soft groan escaped his lips as he buried himself to the hilt, filling me completely.

“Oh, God,” I whispered, my eyes fluttering closed as I adjusted to the fullness of Colton’s thick cock. He was not small—by any means. “Colton.”

He moved slowly at first, deep, rhythmic thrusts that hit everywhere. His lips found my neck, peppering soft kisses along my sensitive skin, then moved to my ear, whispering words of loveand longing.

“You feel incredible, Ember,” he murmured, his breath hot against my ear. “So good. So right.”

I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him deeper, urging him on. “Don’t stop,” I pleaded, my voice breathy. “Never stop, Colton.”
